Vehicle Detail

Here's an opportunity for someone who has some familiarity with what this car is, and the ability to give it the TLC it deserves..... 1998 CL600. I've owned this car for 5 years (driven once or twice a month for the past 12 months), and used it the other 4 years as my daily driver. I was not aware of what this car was when I bought it; I was just looking for a used luxury car that was a little out of the ordinary. But this car is a lot more than that! If you know the car, than you know what it is. For someone who's looking for something exciting that few other people own, this could be the one. I've heard that there were only about 150 of these imported to the States in 1998, and though I haven't been able to verify that, I can tell you that I've never seen another in my area, and I get a lot of comments from other drivers who know Mercedes. The beast is amazingly quick, fast and agile for a car that weighs in at almost 5,000 lbs. It floats on the road, is quiet, has an extremely tight turning radius, and has some of the smoothest power and acceleration you'll ever feel. You will ALWAYS find yourself going 10-20 miles per hour faster than you think you're going. It seems to be most comfortable between 80-90 on the interstates (best mileage, too!) I am hoping it finds a new home with someone who appreciates her and has the ability to give the attention it needs. It's a well-driven car, with fairly typical wear-and-tear. I don't want to represent this car in any other way. The body is about 85%, but there's a shot to the passenger rear quarter panel from a parking lot incident. Beyond that, the paint is in fair shape (a few scratches) and the grille and glass are all perfect. There are new Kumhos on aftermarket rims that are the stock size. Most everything on the car still works--power systems, climate controls, sunroof, seats, radio/cd changer, vacuum door assist, etc. Entire engine was regasketed at 122,000 by a dealer. Alternator and serpentine belt replaced at 139,000. Spark plugs/tune up at 152,000. I will try to represent everything I know the car is in need of. The driver's seat has a few rips both in the seat and the back. The car needs a brake job. The ABS and BAS/ESP indicators in the dash have been on for about 55,000 miles (last time it was a bad sensor). The check engine light has come on intermittently for the past 1,000 miles (last time it was an oxygen sensor). The driver's seat belt doesn't always tension itself when the arm retracts. There was a power steering leak that seems to have stopped. The cover for the rear brake light on the package tray is cracked. The blower for the climate controls works, but doesn't seem to be blowing as well as it used to. And it could definitely use a compounding and detailing. Everytime I drive the car, I regret having to sell it. But 2 doors and 4 kids is a bad combination at this point. Please send any questions. I'm not putting a reserve, as she has to go. I may end the auction early, as I have some local interest in the car.
