Vehicle Detail
NOTE: The pictures of Willys off the trailer are taken with whitewall inserts sitting on tires, not inserted yet (inserts come with car and can be installed or sent with car). The two front tires are good, needs rear ones. It's pretty obvious it needs a paint job and/or restoration. Some of the car on trailer pictures are older before chrome polished and new bondo. An excellent running, almost driver. Brakes work good, but would recommend wheel cylinder replacements. The motor was rebuilt in 1968 with a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing(have the receipts). It was driven and registered/inspected in Florida until 1974 (Inspection sticker still on window). From that point it was garaged and restoration contemplation by that owner. That owner sold it to the guy I bought it from. The guy I bought it from did keep the cylinders lubricated with plugs hand tightened to allow starter turning (keep it lubricated). Headlights, high beams, horn, guages work(good oil pressure/ammeter/temperature) accept the gas gauage is not verified to work yet (just installed new tank/float). It does need the radiator repaired, but does not overheat when water level is kept up. NEW: Radiator cap, thermostat, thermostat gasket, Battery, Master cylinder, brake rubber hoses, one metal brake line (all line connections and bleeders are NOT stuck; no air in lines; bled properly), exhaust pipe, new replacement plastic gas tank/sending unit/filler hose connector. Also, rebuilt carburetor, two gas filters, return and send oil lines, oil filter. Set of wide whitewall tire inserts. Two new hubcaps from Kaiser/Willys parts house (the other two hubcaps are "nice" used; used in pictures). New driveshaft boots and greased. Water and oil systems were thoroughly flushed and rust inhibitor installed. The new exhaust pipe section and drive shaft are installed. See parts pictures. Has four new wood pieces. I believe two over windshield header, two side rail and one large back bow. The top frame is excellent and has the three latches. The rear top window is good (see pic). Has an extra driveshaft. This does have a RARE Willys back up light. Several extra chrome trim pieces. The bumpers are fairly straight and most of the chrome is nice driver quality. A couple splash panels as shown. The back seat bottom spring is pretty much gone, top/back rest part and support tube/frame is in vehicle. The front seat is all there. A seat from a small truck (Bronco or?) is in the back where the original seat is. I have the glove box door. The windshield glass/framing is good. There are four extra wing window glass replacements with it (not pictured). There is an original steering wheel other than the custom one on it now (see parts pic). Original wheel is not that good (see parts on the ground picture). Rockers have rust with new bondo work on both sides as shown, but are mostly solid and there (see rocker underside picture). The original factory welds are still there. Passenger door has dents. Other rust is on left/driver windshield frame bottom(see pic) and in floors, roll under below rear bumper. The front floors are original with some small holes and the back floor has couple bigger holes (see pictures). Frame is great. The rear floor behind the rear seat almost rust free. . Most of the original floor is there with random rust holes. Gauges and guages glass look good; has dash ashtray; knobs pull out. Front steering seems tight (NOT worn steering box gears). This has a clear Florida title. Vehicle ID # is: P25216. Color: Red. Manufacturer's plate under dash reads : 451 BA1 10173 On Apr-25-11 at 04:07:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Original motor/trans.On Apr-25-11 at 04:26:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Fully operational for transport/flatbed loading(full brakes, no slip/noise clutch, plenty of power). Not recommended for driving home or across country. The exhaust system is quiet, complete, and good for several years. On Apr-25-11 at 10:00:49 PDT, seller added the following information: CORRECTION: ENGINE/BRAKES/CLUTCH REBUILD WAS DONE IN THE YEAR 1966, NOT 1968 (PER RECEIPTS OF COMPLETE REBUILDS). IT WAS NOT DRIVEN MANY MILES THROUGH THE YEARS AFTER THAT, BUT WAS KEPT STARTED AND LUBRICATED. ODOMETER READING IS 62,698. With new tires, brake and front suspension safety assurance, two tires, this would be a dependable beach beater. Or, good restoration candidate without re-doing the engine/trans, etc.On Apr-25-11 at 10:19:09 PDT, seller added the following information: comes with tune-up chart, wiring & info diagrams, parts suppliers, owners manual, mechanics manual(copyright 1948). If not familiar with suppliers, Kaiser-willys auto supply online, the Jeepsterman, Inc and Walcks 4 wheel drive are three. I'm sure there are others. On Apr-26-11 at 06:50:41 PDT, seller added the following information: NO OIL SMOKE, NO OIL LEAKS. KEY IGNITION ON, FOOT START STILL FUNCTIONAL.On Apr-26-11 at 09:22:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Just food for bidding thought: I had a buyer at $2800 and offers @ $2000 when this was NOT even running, driveshaft was not installed, brakes were not working, nothing was cleaned/polished, metal gas tank rusted out, carb not rebuilt, etcetera; in other words-hadn't actually moved on its own power in several years. The $2800 offeree backed out only because of transport cost and difficulties getting to his Canada location. $2000 offerees were not accepted even with inoperable state at the time. As described now, it is an excellent runner, mover, stopper (other than brake evaluation-wheel cylinders and radiator repair). That's where the now $3500 ballpark amount falls. You know what a literal basket project will require even if $1000 cheaper. This is NOT that. On Apr-28-11 at 06:06:32 PDT, seller added the following information: This is worth every penny of $3500. Battery doesn't drain, full brake pedal/no air, starts easy, clutch firm/no slip, gauges work indicating good flows/charge, over-all body solid(unless your timid & expect $20k restored), no valve/rod taps/knocks, no smoke at start-up or running temperature, most original parts included, good top frame w/new woods/original rear glass and frame, some lights work (good start), acceptable glass unless restoration expected, etc., etc. Buy it now. I would rather have most of the difficult mechanicals in order (as this is) than PRETTY , if buying a "work in progress". This is pretty much an uncut example. A complete engine removal rebuild was done in 1966 with just break-in amount of use after that. Tidbit notes: doors close /open solidly (do not pop open on movement); top frame lifts fluently w/no kinking/latches; feet nor seats fall through floor, or indicate any weakness (floors actually look better underneath); firewall solid; all moving parts work good (I used up two cans of spray lubricant on everything & anything that may move or may be loosened/removed in the future/under & inside); come get it before I MAACO it! . On Apr-28-11 at 07:02:25 PDT, seller added the following information: CHEAPEST PRICED RUNNING/REBUILT MAIN MECHANICS CONVERTIBLE "CAR" JEEP ON THE MARKET, AND EBAY!
