Vehicle Detail
This listing is one of two vehicles I am having to sell for a down payment for our new house, closing in two weeks. This is a completely original 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with 64K miles that we purchased from the original female owner three years ago. She had decided to special order the car in late summer 1977 at Walker Chevrolet in Sandy Lake, PA., about a mile from her house. The order consisted of a white car with gold stripe kit, white interior, and standard matching body color five spoke wheels.. Her options included the very pricey, first year offered t-tops, automatic transmission, tilt steering wheel, am-fm stereo, space saver spare, rubber floor mats, tinted glass, and dealer rust-proofing and mud flaps. The t-top option turned out to be a patience tester, making the wait nearly nine months for delivery. For the next thirty years, the car averaged about two thousand miles per year, clear, summer days only. In that time, very few things needed repaired or replaced. In addition to tune-up items, multiple batteries, and two sets of tires, the starter, heater hoses, radiator hoses, valve cover gaskets, mufflers (needing replaced again), tail pipes, shocks, and the lug nuts on the right rear wheel (after a garage spun the original stainless caps while repairing a flat), were the only items ever replaced. The only body repairs included a small door ding on the passenger door and a scuff on the left front corner of the nose. The rest of the car is original. The paint is exceptional for being thirty-three years old. The body is 98% rust free. The only spots starting to show are at the very bottom of the left front fender just behind the tire in the black painted area, underneath the hood decal, and some discoloration in the hood, t-top, and trunk jambs. The interior is extremely clean and completely original. The only time or wear items to mention would be the very common warped dash pad, a seam split in the driver's seat bottom, and a sagging head liner. The clock, tach, and temp gauge are also inop. The engine compartment is unmolested with the original air cleaner assembly and exhaust manifolds. The trunk likewise with the original spare, tire inflator canister, and t-top bags all in place. The only change we have made since owning the car was installing a three thousand original mile, 1978 matched set of Goodyear Steelgard tires as it had when new. We have also acquired, but never installed, a very low mileage take-off wheel and tire combo of the original optional finned aluminum Western wheel with gold painted inserts and original Goodyear Polysteel radials. This set and other N.O.S. wheels and tires are also available separately. As can be seen in the one trunk photo, every piece of original paperwork was saved down to the key tag. Finding one of these super clean, fully documented, lower mile second generation Camaros is becoming more and more difficult, not to mention a one owner, special order, white on white car. Keep in mind this is not a show car, but a beautiful, well cared for Z28 with great investment potential. I apologize for the lengthy description, but just wanted to try to cover everything. If I failed to mention anything of importance or you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to call. My name is Greg and my number is 724-601-4894. The car is for sale locally. Delivery can be arranged to spring Carlisle, April 27-30 as well. Thank you.
