BMW R1150RT-P Additional Standard Equipment The R1150RT-P includes standard equipment beyond that provided on the civilian R1150RT motorcycle: Solo seat only with a radio top box replacing the passenger seat 840 watt alternator instead of civilian 700 watt alternator Rear drive gear ratio of 31:11 (civilian R1100/1150RT has 32:11 ratio but R1100/1150RS has 31:11 ratio) Auxiliary cooling fan for engine is kept running when the motorcycle is stationary Front and rear protection bars A special speedometer accurate to +/- 1 MPH 12 volt accessory outlets (the civilian outlet R1150RT comes with one) Heated hand-grips are standard Adjustable BMW windshield is standard Locking side stand True image rear view mirrors Auxiliary link battery to provide power for long duty BMW "City Case" saddle bags Front Led/Strobe Brackets The BMW R1150RT-P (P for Police) is based on the R1150RT civilian model, but is equipped with features that tailor it for official use. It is powered by BMW's modern two cylinder, four stroke Boxer engine, Twin Spark engine which delivers 95 horsepower at 7,250 rpm. Comfort and safety features include an anti-lock breaking system that operates independently on both front and rear wheels (important in rapid braking situations), standard "run-flat" capable tires (these are Bullet Resistant Tires and in very good shape), an electrically adjustable windshield to allow riders to tailor wind flow to riding speed and body proportions, electrically heated hand-grips, an adjustable shift lever, and front and rear protection bars. It has a scrape on the rear crash bar (see photos). I bought this bike and took it on a road trip; it performed flawlessly. It is the perfect touring bike. I am 5’8”, 150 lbs and I find it a little big for my daily ride around town use.
