Vehicle Detail
1980 Indy 500 Trans Am Pace Car up for sale. Car needs total restore. She cranks right up and drives, however she will need to be towed to her new garage. The car came with a folder full of receipts and documentation. The original 301 turbo was removed and replaced with a 1972 Pontiac 400 with a YS stamped on it. The heads are 4X. I scanned in the receipt for the engine install. You really cant see on the receipt but the total of the engine build is $2,912.56 done at LRE Truck and Auto in Schaumburg, Il on june, 11th, 1993. I was told the last time the car was on the road was in 1998 as the licence plate came with the car. The engine cranks right up and there is ZERO knocking or sketchy noises. Chumbrother states this is a STRONG ASS engine. Several websites said the 1972 Pontiac 400 YS is 250 HP. The Odometer reads 00471. 4 wheel disc brakes are not squeaky. No odd noises from rear axle as well! Seat belts, seat belt guides and glass all intact. The entire body will need complete cosmetic overhaul. The mirrored t-tops have a few scratches on the sides as shown in the pics. The original build sheet is not with it unfortunately. A Pontiac Press Release folder came with the purchase along with a picture and a letter taped to it. In addition an Official 64th annual 1980 Indy 500 Program with the Pace Car on the cover came with the purchase too. All the paperwork you see in the photos come with the purchase. The original jack is still mounted. The car is complete minus the spare tire, original motor, radio and turbo hood. The only new items are a fuel tank, battery and fuel pump. She will need new carpet and new interior however most of it is very salvageable as you can see in the pictures. The drivers seat is currently not bolted down that way I could take good pics of the holes in the drivers side floor pan. The passenger side floor pan is fine. The dash is cracked in the middle. The dash bezel is in great shape and the clock still works. The interior dash lights work and are illuminated red when headlights are turned on. I purchased several items including NOS drivers arm rest and several interior pieces off BOSSCAMERO and other EBAY sellars. When you pick up car you can purchase those items separately if u want them. Rear bumber cover and rear spoilers are loosly bolted on. The car came with only the ignition key as the trunk lock is history. When I opened the glove compartment it shows a button for a trunk release and the original sticker is in there. The tilt steering works and the drivers window goes up and down. The passenger side window works occasionally if you move the switch back and forth! Like I said the car will need restored. I purchased the car last year and planned on restoring her however I have way too many trans ams and other toys I'm currently working on. In addition I'm going to Buy Chumbrothers SE Bandit off him so I will need the extra room in the garage! The car is registered in Ga and is currently insured thru Geico. Vehicle location is in Kennesaw, Ga. 30144 Once again the car is a total restore as is currently not a show car. I have described the car to the best of my ability and any questions will be answered promptly and posted. I made a short video of cranking up the car and posted it on youtube.
