Up for auction is this real nice old Chevy Pick-Up. This is a 1954, 1/2 ton, model 3100. As you can see in the pics, it has the 5-window cab, side-mount spare tire and a heater as factory equipment. The Motorola radio and shag carpet are owner-installed. This truck started out life as a Bell Telephone Company vehicle and was all a light green color. My friend's dad acquired it sometime in the 1970's, used it sparingly as a second vehicle, painted it red, and it has been in the family ever since, having been passed down from father to son. It never was driven very much, and was stored when Steve moved from Florida to Texas for several years, so the total mileage since new is under 55000. Steve (that's my friend) is now in the process of moving from his house with a big garage to a condo with no garage, so he asked me to list his truck. Through the years, the starter has been rebuilt, also the generator (still has the original 6-volt system) and he remembers a valve job done somewhere along the way. The motor (235-inch inline 6), transmission (three-speed on the column), differential and mostly everything else is original to the truck. Still has the original 16-inch wheels. A while back, I remember Steve treating the truck to a pretty expensive paint job - it's been garaged, so the paint is still looking good. This truck runs great, having been properly maintained all these years. It's has its share of new batteries, brake jobs and whatever became necessary to keep it road-worthy at all times. In fact, for the 30-or-so years that I've known Steve and his truck, I can honestly tell you that it has never failed to do what is supposed to do. Living near Palm Beach, there have been many times we just went for a cruise by the ocean - and she runs straight down the road with no problems. The tranny shifts smoothly, it doesn't jump out of any gears, and the clutch and brakes work fine. It could be pretty much driven across the country at a moments notice. The inside has never been treated to a new paint job, so except for the carpet, seat cover and headliner it's still original, so that could be improved upon and also the bed needs new wood (all the metal strips are present and in good shape). Or, you could drive it as it is and use a piece of plywood in the bed like Steve does; it works great! Please bear in mind, even though this is a solid (never any rust other than a little surface rust), good-running truck, I'm sure you can appreciate the fact that it's warranty days are long gone, so this is an as-is sale.
