Vehicle Detail

Offered today is a 1981 Mercedes-Benz four door sedan. I purchased this car in December of 2010 as an interim vehicle. I was involved in an accident and bought this car to use as a daily driver while I was waiting for the insurance details to be worked out. I have since fixed that mess and purchased a new vehicle so it's time to let this one go. When I went to start it yesterday it fired right up after not running for a week. Unfortunately, when I went to move it out of it's parking space, something "snapped" in the drive train. I don't think it was the transmission, it seemed more like a drive shaft issue, but I'm not sure. When I put it in reverse now, the engine still make a change in sound like it's engaging, but when you hit the fuel, nothing happens. When I put it in any forward gear, there is no change in sound and the engine just revs when you hit the fuel. I usually do repair work on all my vehicles, but at this point I no longer have the time or patience to fix a car that I planned to sell anyway. So my laziness is your good luck. Someone will get this beauty at a nice discounted rate! Prior to this problem, the car ran and drove great. Started in every type of weather and ran around just fine. When I first bought the car, I replaced the battery, battery ground cable, alternator, glow plugs, fuel pump primer, (some of the) fuel lines, both fuel filters, and the exhaust. All replaced with new/rebuilt parts, and I have receipts for all parts. Now, the unresolved issues. The dash lights have never worked since I've had it. The last day I drove it, for some unknown reason, the turn signals stopped working. The hazard lights still work, so it must not be too involved. The hood doesn't stay up on it's own. It appears to have had some body work at some point and is showing small amounts of surface rust, but overall the body is nice and solid. The drivers side rear view mirror has a couple cracks in it and the adjuster seems to be frozen up. The radio/CD player works, but the antenna wire needs a new plug end installed as someone must have ripped the last one off. The manual sunroof works like a charm and doesn't leak a drop. All four locks go up and down (lock/unlock) when the key is turned in the drivers door. Fog-lights work fine. Due to the recent drive train issues, you will need a trailer to pick this vehicle up. Please feel free to email me with any questions or to set up a time to see it. If you are handy with a wrench and like a solid German car, then this one is for you. NO RESERVE!!! REVIEW MY FEEDBACK, AND BID WITH CONFIDENCE!!! I will have a number of other great collectible items, brochures, and vintage magazines for sale over the next couple weeks so please check back! Thanks for looking! Please e-mail any questions or for additional photos.
