Up for bid is a California rust free 1966 Mustang convertible with the 289 V8 and automatic transmission. This car is completely rust free on the body and undercarriage. It apears to have never been in an accident. The poppy red color is original, although not original paint. The pony interior appears to be original with the exception of the carpet and in good shape as well except for the back part of the back seat which sustained some minor fire damage. The quarter cover has slight damage to the vinyl also. The center console is in good shape and the woodgrained steering wheel and glove box door and dash cluster are original also. looks like the drivers rear wheel caught fire and burned the paint off the quarter and door. The convertible top is burned and the lines that go to the left piston of the power top unit are burned also. The brake was damaged by the fire too. The 289 2 bbl. engine starts right up, idles smooth, has plenty of power and doesn't burn any oil. The trans. shifts smooth. The power brakes work well and the dual exhaust looks new with performance mufflers from Magniflow. The tires are decent except for the drivers rear which was replaced by a spare. The car comes with a salvage certificate from California. This is a totally rust free car that has lived its entire life in Ca. It was assembled in the San Jose plant. According to the door tag the car originally had a 6 cyl. engine with the 4 speed manual trans. so the engine and trans. is not original. The rear has the 3.20 gears. The reserve is low on this car.
