Vehicle Detail

1972 Chevrolet Corvette You are bidding on a 1972 Corvette with a transplanted date code correct LS5 454/270hp engine, a 4-Speed and factory equipped A/C car that is in good useable driver condition. Drive it as is and with some work, it can be brought up to the next level, as well as higher value. This car has had the same owner since 1990, that’s 21 years with the same person! When I went to pick it up, he had this car stored on his lift in his home garage. Yes, he is a serious enthusiest. Exterior: The underside is unrestored and solid. The frame is not rotted and solid. It was never undercoated so you can see everything is good. The owner states this Corvette has its original panels. The body is straight with no cracks in the fiberglass. The chrome and trim are in original condition. The T-tops are in good shape. It is missing the cowl trim and has stick on trim for the look. The paint was done approximately 10+ years ago. The finish is smooth with no orange peel. There are a few chips and minor scratches you would expect from a car that was driven and used. It does actually show well. Interior: The interior is in good shape, not perfect but useable. The seats are decent. The door panels are in good original condition. The driver’s door pull is loose on top and it’s missing the door lock knob. The carpet is in good shape as well. The steering wheel is from a later model. She features Tilt & Telescopic steering column, Power Windows, and factory Air Conditioning. The A/C doesn’t work but it’s all there. It will also need a new heater core. The wipers do not work as the wiper door actuator is missing. The headlights open and close well. There is an aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette Stereo that works fine replacing the original without cutting the stock location. Mechanical: This originally was a 350 small block car but at some point many years ago previous to this owner the engine was swapped out for a date code correct 454. I did verify the block casting number and engine suffix codes out correctly for a 1972 454 4-speed Corvette. Block casting number is 3999289 which is 72-78 454 215, 235, 240, 270, 2 bolt, car & truck. Front pad number is TO504CSR - 1972 Corvette 454 270hp Manual Transmission LS-5AR. The transmission I was told is correct for the car. She has power steering and manual disc brakes. The engine runs good on the road and has smooth power. It seems to have a little miss at idle, but clears up once its warmed up. The transmission shifts easy and the clutch feels good. The suspension rides nice. The steering feels a little loose but not bad. She rides on vintage aluminum 8” wide Turbine Wheels that have been with the car since the late 70’s or early 80’s. The rear mufflers and gas tank were replaced within the last couple years. It rode down the road well and when I gave it throttle, the car just kicked in and scooted well. It also handled well around corners and is a pretty decent driver. Overall you are getting a good driver quality Corvette with a lot of desirable options like the LS5 454 (not original), 4-Speed Transmission, Factory Air Conditioning, Tilt and Telescopic Steering, and Power Windows. This is the perfect car to buy, use as is and fix the little things as you use it. It’s also the perfect candidate for a full on restoration as it has everything you want to make it worth restoring with the right options and clean body.
