Vehicle Detail
Greetings, Up for auction is a really sweet 1982 Datsun 280zx 2+2. I purchased this car in 2005 from the second owner. Since then it's sat in my garage and fulfilled backup car duty. It starts right up every time and has never let me down. I put roughly 2,000 miles on the car since I've owned her. I hate to sell it but I'm in the market for an RV and I need to liquidate some toys. She's a really beautiful car that I wouldn't hesitate to use as a daily driver. She's also a perfect example if you want to do a full restoration. She runs terrific and drives perfectly. You can cruise the highway all day at 80mph in this thing. The T-tops don't leak a drop either. Even the automatic antenna still works! There's not even a single crack in the original dashboard. I'm selling my Z with NO RESERVE in the hopes that another Z car enthusiast will give her a happy home. You're welcome to arrange to see the car in person. The car is titled, registered and insured in my name. A $200 deposit is required immediately upon auction close and full payment is required within 72 hours. Sold as-is. PayPal only, please. Here's the description that was given to me by the person I purchased her from originally back in 2005, about 2000 miles ago and still pretty accurate: Mechanically the car runs perfect. I am the second owner of this 1982 Datsun 280ZX (2+2). I bought it from the original owner who owned the car down in Florida from 1982 until 2004. In 2004, the original owner (a woman now in her 60's) gave the car to her son as he was moving to New Jersey. After spending one winter in New Jersey, her son realized that he would need a daily driver that could be driven in snow and he couldn't afford to maintain insurance on two cars (New Jersey has some of the highest car insurance rates in the United States). I bought it from the original owner's son with the intention of restoring it to show quality. The paint is in fabulous condition. I replaced the hood (which is silver) and the bumper (which is blue) as the previous owner was in a MINOR tap the car in front of you at a red light type accident and it was cheaper for me to replace the parts than spending hours trying to smooth the hood. There is no frame or structural damage whatsoever. It has power windows, power steering, power brakes, power mirrors, cruise control, t-tops, climate control (it automatically regulates the temperature in the cabin of the car (like new high-end vehicles of today), along with the climate control option was the computerized voice that reminds you that you left your lights on (a woman's voice states "you're lights are on"), rear window defroster, radio with tape deck (the tape deck doesn't work), warning display (this monitors stop light bulbs, headlight bulbs, tail light bulbs, washer fluid level and coolant level). I can't think of an option that this car doesn't have (and everything works). Brakes are new, tires are brand new, cooling system was charged in 2004. Mechanically this car is strong (it starts right up and is quiet as a new car). There are no rusted areas that affect the structural integrity of the car. There were two spots on the driver's side floor that I have welded patches into as well as an area where the driver's side floor heads up behind the pedals which I have also welded in a patch plate (but the weld needs to be finished). I did not remove the rug from the passenger side but from looking underneath it appears that there are two small areas that could use patching. I welded in a patch in the driver's front wheel well. There is also an area where the spare tire sits that also needs a patch. I cut out the bad metal and rust treated the area but didn't weld in a patch (overall the underside is in fabulous shape). The only other are that needs a small patch is inside the wheel wheel of the passenger front (once again a small area and does not affect the structural integrity of the car). The only exterior parts I don't have are the front bumper rubber extensions which attach to the sides of the front bumper and get screwed inside the front wheel wells (both sides were dry rotted so I threw them out when I tore the front end apart to work on it). Aside from that the only other thing the car needs is an interior carpet (probably around $200 from a Z restoration place). It was badly stained and worn so I cut the trunk carpet out as well as the driver's side when I was welding. The only carpet in the car is the passenger side front carpet. The only other mention I can think of is the passenger side front seat is from a 1987 280zx* *not anymore, I put in a proper 280zx seat* Since I've owned the car I've changed the oil every 6 months and only used premium fuel. She has a new battery too. That's just about everything I can think of. The pics and videos below should tell the full story. Click on any pics below for a high resolution version. If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks and happy bidding!
