Vehicle Detail
Here for sale is a great black plate California car 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door hardtop with rebuilt 390 FE engine, rebuilt C6 transmission, rebuild front suspension, rebuilt brake system, Vintage air AC system, reupholstered interior, new dual exhaust system, and new American racing wheels with Remington tires. Per the door tag, this car was built in California(Long Beach), originally came with the 312 engine, 2 speed automatic, and 3.10 axle ratio, painted Willow Green and Colonial White. This is a nice driving car with correct color paint that looks good from 20 feet away. It is older paint with chips, scratches, etc however the body is super straight with only tiny bubbles in the paint on the lower portion of the car which is shown in a few pictures. The bumpers have nice shiny chrome with one small dent in the rear bumper. The previous owner changed the rear bumper to a more slim style that he preferred over the very large original bumpers. The car has factory tinted glass all in good shape, the stainless trim is in good shape, and all the pot metal trim has age pitting. The trim for the right rear fin broke off and a new one is included that has been ordered. The car runs well, the transmission shifts well, and the front suspension is tight with the rebuilt parts. The car stops nice and even, no pulling to one side. The power steering works well, although there is play in the steering box. All working: the gas gauge, speedometer, brake lights, headlights and running lights, turn signals, and Vintage Air AC system blows cold. Not working: the wiper motor is not hooked up, not sure if it works or not, and the original AM radio does not work. The underside of car has absolutely no rust on floorboards or any other visible area underneath, The trunk has no rust perforation, just very light surface rust on the outer left side that can be sanded off. Drivetrain overview: About 2000 miles on rebuilt 390 FE motor with new forged pistons, rods, camshaft and lifters, new Holley intake and Edelbrock performer carb, new Mallory distributor and coil, new wires, and new alternator. About 2000 miles on rebuilt C6 transmission About 2000 miles on rebuilt front suspension About 2000 miles on brake system--master cylinder, brake cylinders, and brake shoes. About 2000 miles on American racing wheels with Remington radial tires. About 2000 miles since aluminized dual exhaust system with super turbo mufflers installed About 2000 miles since thermostatically controlled electric cooling fan installed along with electric fuel pump. Interior: About 2000 miles since interior was reupholstered with new seat covers, door panels, carpet, headliner, and trunk upholstery. Dash and gauges are in excellent shape, aftermarket gauges added, and vents and controls for Vintage Air professionally installed. Color keyed seat belts made professionally for front and rear seats and installed for safety. This car gets lots of attention and is fun to drive. If you like 57 Fairlanes this would be a great one to own at a reasonable price. You could paint it in the future to bring it up to a higher level but the car is certainly usable and enjoyable as is.
