Hello eBayers, I know there is a lot of writing and info here, but please take the time to read it. I have always given an in-depth description of the cars I sell on eBay. I find that buyer appreciate this. If there is something I haven't covered, please let me know and contact me. The blue book on this car is between $7,500 and $10,500 according to NADA.com. However, I am listing it as an absolute auction, no reserve. I have done this in the past, and I find that the law of supply and demand takes over and USUALLY the right price is met. I sincerely hope it will be in this case, because I am moving and regrettably, must sell this beauty. You could walk away a buyer who just "stole" a gorgeous 280z, but nevertheless you will certainly be a proud and happy owner. This car will not disappoint when seen "in the flesh" or driven. Ok then, you are bidding on my pride and joy - this is the last of my beloved vehicular possessions that I need to sell. I keep her in the garage, air conditioned and happy. I have hung onto her as long as I can, and I am currently in the process of moving overseas - I unforutnately have to sell her. One of my forst cars was a 1978 280z, and it doesn't hold a candle to this one. I'm a car fanatic, and love oddball 60s 70s and 80s cars. I have sold several of my cars through eBay, getting ready to move, all with positive feedback. These include several Mercedes 300 Diesels, a VW Westfalia, a v12 Jaguar convertible, a Datsun Fairlady Roadster, a Volvo 262 Bertone, and some others. You can be certain you are getting all the info that I have on the car you are bidding on, and I disclose everything to the best of my knowledge. The good, the neutral, the things that may need help, the history, it is all here, nothing is being hidden or not disclosed. If there is something that you would like to know, please call me at (512) 588-3492 or send me an email. You may get a quicker response by calling me. I would like to mention, please do not bid on this item if you are not wanting to follow through. As you may know, eBay ads cost money, $120 to be exact, and I do need to sell this car in a timely manner for my move. She is worth every penny, and has a remarkable history. The "first" buyer for the last car I sold here, a 1979 Mercedes 280se, kept making excuses as to why he could not pay the deposit, and eventually flaked out. The second buyer stepped in and bought it, was happy and left positive feedback, but guys, please, do not waste my time or your time. The car is listed to the best of my knowledge and experience in ownership, and honesty is key for me. Please rest assured the car is a wonderful example of a 280z, and I'm confident you will be happy. Please follow through on your purchase, As stated before, I must move and selling this car must be done in a timely manner. With that said, I can store the car for you in my air-conditioned garage in Lakeway for 2 weeks, perhaps a little more if you contact me first. The cut and dry: This car is fantastic. Plain and simple. A true unmolested, unmodified, rust-free, healthy car with cold A/C, no leaks and no problems, and fresh paint. This car even has its original, unused spare tire, with the original canister of compressed air (see pictures). This car was kept meticulously as a "time capsule", while all the time being kept healthily running and driving, on average, 6 to 10 miles a week, to keep her fresh, happy and spry, and keep the rubber, elastics and mounts excercised. It must be driven to be believed, but this car does NOT have even the slightest feeling of "looseness". She is solid, tight and still drives and feels very fresh. As I said before, I love this car so much I had to save it for last to sell. I hate to see her go, but I know someone will appreciate her and continue maintaining and preserving her. This car has been kept since 1987 in a garage, and still got her maintenance done on time. Oil changes were done whether it needed it or not, every 8 months. It was driven enough for the fuel to stay fresh, although recently (6 months ago), I made the decision to replace the fuel pump and filter, and I also had the tank professionally cleaned and replaced, in addition the fuel injectors were cleaned. Recently Replaced or Redone within the last 8 months: 1. Fuel Pump 2. Fuel Filter 3. Fuel injectors cleaned 4. Fuel tank dropped and cleaned 5. A/C recharge and service 6. New Clutch Master Cylinder 7. New Clutch Slave Cylinder 8. New Clutch Disc and Bearing Interior: What can I say? The pictures look good, but seriously don't do her justice. This car is clean, clean, clean. The carpet is beautiful, No dirt or dust in the crevices, no funk on the steering wheel, absoultely spotless. I can't give her anything but a 9.5 out of 10 for being 33 years old. THe only thing I see is a small crack (see picture) on the dash. Unfortunate, but it happens. It is not annoying, nor does it disappoint too bad. I was going to have it repaired, but I figured I would have to tell you guys out of honesty anyway, so I leave it for you to take care of. The interior is overall quite fresh, and still has that "old new car" smell if you will. The plastics are clean and soft, and the interior doesn't feel like it is going to crack and peel when you touch it. What I'm trying to say is that there is plenty of life left in it's components and materials. The driver's side seat is starting to develop stretch and stress marks on the seat bottom, which can been seen in the pictures, but it is in the very early stages and the seat has held up. I can sit on itt all day long and it won't come apart, but word to the wise, I would attend to this before it gets worse, because right now it is not too noticable and can be fixed easily by adding a layer of material under the original material. The passenger seat is like new, and frankly there has only been one passenger I have given a ride to, and the previous owner was single and drove pretty much alone. All the latches, locks, etc, are all working, the headliner is like new and the glovebox and sunvisors are also in like condition. This car is nice. Engine/Drivetrain: This car starts up first time everytime, the fuel injected straight 6 purrs smoothly, and the 4-spd manual transmission shifts just like it should, with no slips or problems. She has a brand new clutch master cylinder, brand new clutch slave, and a new clutch and bearing installed in the last 8 months. It is a tremendously healthy running car, temperature gauge always stays where it should, the oil pressure is well within range, I had the oil pressure checked by a mechanic with his gauge, and it is great. The car drives straight and true down the highway, and feels like a much younger car. It is a true pleasure to drive, doesn't burn oil, doesn't do anything it shouldn't. I drive her 2 or 3 days a week with complete confidence. This car truly stays nice and tight down the highway, and as I said before, the car is not "loose". All the joints and endlinks are healthy and the car feels solid. This is VERY important to me. A loose car takes all the confidence out of driving to me. There are absoultely, positively, no leaks anywhere. The car is dry and clean. She drives true, not a shake, shimmy or rattle, nor do you experience any kind of discomfort or nervousness while driving. She loves letting you feel confident. Exterior/Undercarriage: THIS CAR IS RUST-FREE. This is why I bought it in the first place. In fact, the undercarriage black rust coat is still visible. It literally looks like a 5 year old car from underneath. It is fresh and pretty. Only the exhaust shows surface rust, which is expected anyway. I have searched all over, so have a few buddies in the auto industy, and there is no rust to be found on the body. Not even a tiny bit. I'm not surprised, because this car has been preserved, preserved CORRECTLY!) for most of it's life. The exterior is beautiful. Truly. This 33 year old car looks better than most 5 year old daily drivers. This car just had a $1100 paint job done about a month ago, in preparation for its sale. I was a little disappointed, only because I asked the shop to repair a small ding on the passenger door, but they forgot. The shop is owned by an acquaintance which gave me a $1400 paint job for $1100, so I didn't complain. It cannot really be seen in the pictures, nor is it bad in real life, but I need to mention it to you. This is the only blemish I can see on the body, and only maybe an unnoticable ding or two elsewhere that I haven't noticed before. Believe me, I wouldn't be crazy to spend $1100 on paint if the body didn't look like it could sport a fresh coat of paint like a champ, and look sleek and pretty. A/C and Climate: The A/C is important to me, and this car has a fully working, ICE COLD A/C system. It has been meticulously maintained, and taken for service whether or not it needed it, just to keep the seals and oils fresh. It is not just cool, but COLD. You can drive around comfortably in the summer. Other: Everything on this car works. Literally. The radio, gauges, lights, everything. I cannot think of or see one item that doesn't work properly. Title, stickers, tags: The title is a good, blue title, IN MY NAME, and ready to be transfered to you. This car has been insured, but has not been registered or inspected. There was no need to. We intended to keep this car like the previous owner did - a piece to discuss with friends and fellow z-heads, and a gorgeous car to maintain and keep healthy. Plus, we know most of the policemen here in the "resort" town of Lakeway, on Lake Travis, near Austin, so I wasn't concerned about getting pulled over while driving, becuase they know about my classic cars I like to keep. This car can also easily pass inspection, and in Texas, there is no emissions check required for this car, as it is over 25 years old. I will require a $500 cash deposit, sent to paypal, within 12 hours of auction close, and the remainder within 3 days, in cash, or a cashier's check that I can clear at a local bank on the day of pickup. If you need other arrangements, please contact me first. Please honor your bid, I have put a lot of time into this ad, and for someone to just back out is very unfair. Please let me know your intentions if you have zero feedback, or I may cancel your bids. I'm sorry, I've just had bad experiences in the past with bidders with zero or negative feedback. One of you guys are bound to ask something like: "Can I drive this car straight to California or New York??" - Well, I don't see why not, I kept her meticulously mantained so she will be healthy, but then again, I don't even drive my DAILY DRIVER out of town, let alone out of state. I'm the kind of guy who rents a car for peace of mind. So, in conclusion, I feel like the car would make it, but she IS 33 years old, and a collectible, so I would not neccessarily do it. I would have a transposrt company pick it up if you live a considerable distance. Believe me, this car is worth it. Don't risk the rocks and pebbles and road hazards on a 1500 mile trip. To date, every car I have sold on eBay, including a 1975 Peugeot 504 DIESEL that was driven to CANADA from Texas (I know, right?), has made it to its destination just fine if the new owner decided to drive it, but of course, I cannot guarantee anything to you. I hope it makes sense and you understand. Good luck bidding, I know you will love this car just as much as I. I will sorely miss her. It's almost like this car was built for me. The black and silver is just my style, and the cleanliness and style speaks volumes about Datsun in the 70s. Combine this with decent fuel economy and roadworthiness, and you have a true champion of a car that you can show and drive and feel comfortable driving. She will not let you down!
