Vehicle Detail
Please allow Pictures to load 1983 Land Rover Defender 130 HiCap (Hi Capacity Pickup) with crew cab with seating for 6. VIN SALLDHAG7AA193867. Only 66700K original miles. yep you read that right, 66700K original miles. It spent its life working on a plant estate in Britain. One owner since new. I am second owner. I have the paperwork that shows only 1 owner before I purchased this truck and had it restored. Bullet proof 200TDI Right hand drive. It has a galvanized frame and galvanized bulkhead, all new suspension, paint, winch, bumpers, new paint, grill, facia, cranked torsion arms, new wheels, seats, canvas, roll cage. Its not a sports car, but a really fun work horse that is a blast to drive. Come test it. Located on Hilton Head Island South Carolina. Brand new front bumper, new lights, new off road lights, new 9500lb winch with remote. The not so perfect. Although this truck is tight, straight and runs excellent, it is a 1983. The old school doors are straight and true, and rust free, but you do need to close them harder than your Mercedes. One photo appears that driver door does not close. This was my fault, I left it open when I took the photo. It does close tightly. MECHANICAL -Low mileage 200TDI starts immediately and purrs quite nicely. Very clean and tidy mechanicals with many new and replaced parts. Everything is tight and performs as it should. The engine is clean clean clean. No grime and slime to work on. The motor was gone over thoroughly by certified Land Rover mechanic and is free from any issues. Original engine was replaced at some point with a later model 200TDI from a discovery. This is a better engine, and ready for A/C installation should it be needed. The oil pan and gear box have a bit of oil underneath, but the engine and bay is very clean and tidy. All hoses, belts are new and crud free. The chassis and bulk head were replaced with new galvanized. It was undercoated for protection. There is no rust or surprises hiding underneath. All new suspension, with new springs and shocks, cranked radius arms. Exhaust is a year old. 200TDI are known as one of the most reliable engine ever built by landrover. You won't be racing a Ferrari off the line, but you can out climb, and out last just about anything on/off the road. Besides, it puts a smile on your face. This 200TDI is set up for A/C. I have aquired a brand new 200TDI genuine Landrover A/C under dash unit, and the correct pump and engine mount. I can get these here at cost. This is not included in sale price. No one can get you one on this side of the pond. You would need condenser and plumbing. Any a/c installer can get you these parts and easily install. EXTERIOR - Near Perfect body and paint. No dents or scratches. A few very small (and I mean small) chips in paint, that are hardly noticeable. Brand new18inch wheels on brand new tires. Brand new soft top and frames. A 15 minute job to remove or install for those days you want it topless. New roll cage in the back. New front grill and facia, new lights front and rear UnderneathUnderbody protection from the elements has been done with waxoil. The best protection from corrosion. It is dry to the touch. The truck is clean underneath and you can rub your hands underneath with out getting filthy. Nothing hidden, everything was restored to as new condition as possible. One small leak leaves a penny sized drip overnight. If it doesn't then its not a Landrover. We aren't masking anything here. Although it does look beautiful and runs perfectly, it is a 26 year old truck. INTERIOR - Seats were replaced a year ago with new exmoor trim. cosmetics inside are very clean and tidy. Seatbelts (retractable) are new, most of the dash is new, new floor mats, tunnel carpets, new mirrors, new windshield and rear sliding glass and rubber weather stripping. Stereo works with 2 speakers, but they sound cheap. Needs a stereo upgrade. As with many oldschool Landys it will drip a bit of water on the floors in heavy rain. It is totally fine for normal rain, but we had an all day soaker a few weeks back and the floor was wet. This may just need vent adjustment, or door adjustment. Does not affect any of the electrical or mechanical parts. I have a brand new defender I drive in Britain, and it drips in heavy rain. Don't let anyone tell you they don't leak. Thats it for negatives. This Defender starts immediately, even after many days of sitting. It runs well, smooth and tight, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it long distance anywhere. It runs strong on the interstate and is great running around the island. The ride is really nice, smooth, quiet and it tracks straight and true. NICE RIDE that gets many complements. Totally fine running at 70mph. It stops incredibly fast. Fun and easy to drive RHD. This is ready for another 26 years of service Video of Defender 130 driving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztYSZyDBneI My wife loves driving it. Thats her driving in the youtube vid. As for gas consumption, I am confident in saying about 27 mpg. When the low fuel warning light comes on, it means it! The guage seems to show about 1/16th of gas in tank when warning light first flickers. Paperwork. Yes its imported. Yes it passed M.O.T., passed Customs inspection, exempt EPA, passed DOT, passed SC DMV inspection, and has clear title in South Carolina as a 1983 Land Rover Defender 130. The VIN on the frame matches the VIN under the hood. Please note that this vehicle is being sold "as-is", but if you have additional questions, feel free to contact me via ebay, or call me at 843 368-2170. I reserve the right to end the auction early if someone pulls me over to buy it on the spot. Yes I do drive it . I have put 200 miles on her in the last two weeks. Yep, its a reliable daily driver. Re" Payment. Please don't make me silly lowball offers. Please don't ask me to wait a few days. Money talks. This was totally dismantled, reconditioned, restored with many new parts and is worth every cent. Cannot be compared obviously to a new one, but a 130 is "THE LANDY" to own. Once you feel the ride of a 130, you will never go back to a shorter wheel base. Please have your funds in order. If you don't have the money, don't bid. No loans or payments, I am not a bank. Winner must contact me within 24 hours after close of auction and place a 10% non-refundable deposit within 48 hours. Payment by wire transfer (preferred) or cashiers check only. Cashiers checks must be cleared by my bank before the car is released. Full balance of payment is due within 7 days of the end of the auction. Savannah (SAV) airport is one hour away. Hilton Head Island airport (HHH) is 5 minutes away. Pick-up/ shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I will help in anyway I can .
