Bella Rosa, "Beautiful Rose" in Italian, is a 1964 Porsche 356c. As you can tell from the photos, it is a head-turning red with rare white interior. I bought it a few years ago from a kindly older gentleman in the South East and shipped it out to Los Angeles, where it has been lovingly driven, maintained and garaged. I am certainly no mechanic, nor am I a classic car expert, but I can tell you this car has been nothing but a dream to own and drive since the day I bought it. It is a great daily driver and starts up every time. What a joy it is to cruise down Sunset Blvd and get smiles and waves from the passers by. It's also a terrific "date car" which never fails to impress. It's awesome to pull up to the valet at a restaurant and have it left it sitting out front. Most of the time, they don't even give you a claim ticket - they always remember who you are and the car you drive! Now it's time for me to pass it along to another enthusiast. It saddens me deeply to let go of my little Bella Rosa, but I have limited garage space and now I've got my eye on a convertible, since I do live in Southern CA. Like, I said, I'm no mechanic, so I can only disclose what I know from personal experience as to what's "right" and "wrong" with the car. First, the good: as far as I can tell, the car is pretty original. I checked with Porsche of America, the engine block number matches the VIN number, so the engine is original. As you’re reading this the mileage sits slightly under 62,000 miles. One charming feature in my book is that the windows all say "made in West Germany" which, since West Germany isn't on the map anymore, is mucho cool. I think, in classic car parlance, this car is perfect from 5 feet away. The paint job is great and fairly new with few blemishes. In addition, the car is straight, makes no funny noises, no gaps, accelerates quickly and is responsive. Shifting gears is seamless. No visible rust anywhere as far as I can tell. As you can see, it's a beauty! Now, the bad: the interior is serviceable, but showing its age. Hairline cracks in the dash and the seats are showing wear. For a daily driver, it's fine, but if you want a showpiece, it's probably time for a redo. The tachometer, the speedometer, and the odometer all work perfectly. The clock is wonky and goes in and out. The oil gauge doesn't work at all. The fuel gauge works, but bumps around a bit, so it's not fantastically accurate. At some point probably in the early '80s, some other owner installed a cassette tape player. (I guess they wanted to listen to Foghat or something while the cruised down the highway.) No matter - it doesn't work and never has since I've owned it. In the engine department, the car has a very slight oil leak. I put a pan down in the garage - problem solved. The previous owner told me the reserve tank switch doesn't work. I've never had occasion to need it, so I take him at his word and pass that info along to you. About a month ago, the car battery died, so that's replaced and brand new. And that's been the extent of my car troubles. The glass has a few scratches on the side windows, and the same is true with some of the chrome. Of course, feel free to have a mechanic check it out should you have concerns. Of course, all the standard caveats apply here. The car is sold as-is. With no warranty You are responsible for pick up and delivery. Deposit will be due within 48 hours of sale.
