Vehicle Detail
All stock and complete 1957 Chevrolet Shortbox Stepside with the desirable BIG BACK WINDOW. This truck is in remarkable shape for the year and could be put back on the road with a minimal amount of work. It has been sitting for about 6-7 years so it will require a bit of TLC but overall it is nearly ready to run. The original front end is tight and in good shape and steers easily. All the lights are in place and should be functional. All the glass is in good shape except for the vent window on the driver's side. The interior is very good with an excellent cover on the original seat. It looks very old and stock appearing but it couldn't be original after all these years could it? The seat springs seem to be in great shape with no sagging or broken springs that I can tell. The dash has never been cut up and has all the original chrome knobs and controls and even has the original radio ! Up above are the original sunvisors and the factory speaker for the radio, very rare ! The original steering wheel is in place and is in great shape. Under the hood is the original 235 6 cylinder engine, which turns over freely. I haven't tried to start it but I see no reason why it shouldn't run with a little tinkering. Everything is in place on the engine and under the hood like when it was new. The brake master cylinder seems to be stuck from sitting but new ones are avaiable from several sources. On the outside the truck features chrome trim on the front bumper, grille, headlight bezels and also has the stainless trim around the side, front and rear windows. Some of the chrome will have to be redone but the pieces are good and straight, the stainless is all in good condition I believe. It also has dual outside mirrors. The trim on the truck is all part of the Custom trim option which was the upper level compared to the Deluxe trim. The doors and the hood close very well and the gaps are excellent. I don't believe this truck has ever had a serious accident or that it has ever been taken apart. There are some small bubbles and signs of possible underlying issues in a few spots which are very common for these trucks, such as the front fenders and the rear cab corners. Parts are readily available from many sources if needed and are inexpensive. A couple places on the passengers side had some shallow dents repaired poorly years ago and the filler cracked letting water in behind. I pulled out the filler and exposed some surface rust beneath, it looks worse than it is as the metal is solid and dry(now). Other than that the body looks very good and straight, the original wood can be seen in the bed beneath a sheet of metal that was put in by the previous owner. That is about the only modification from stock that I've noticed on the truck. The rearend and transmission appear to be stock and original but I have no way to check their condition. The truck was driven to the spot where it was when I purchased it and the previous owner didn't mention any problems. I have the truck registered in my name and it has been stored inside since I purchased it. Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever get to working on it as I seem to be constantly busy. It would be an easy truck to restore to show status or a great truck to make a custom/Hotrod from. One thing that is a little more rare about this truck is that it is an Original Canadian built truck which is far less common than US built trucks and the model is a 1300 series instead of the US 3100 series. All of the original data plates are in place on the door jamb including the serial number and the "GM of Canada" numbers. Also the fender emblems are the correct "1300" ones. I believe I have the original owners manual as well. I've include a couple of pics of similar trucks to show what this could look like with a little work. The yellow truck is one I built a few years ago. Please study the pics carefully and ask any questions you may have. The pics were taken when I bought the truck and before it had a chance to dry out. I has been stored inside since. Buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for shipping, I can assist with loading at my end. Please only bid if you are able and willing to follow through with the purchase. I will not hold it for you to come up with the funds, but I can store the truck for a pre-arranged period of time while shipping is arranged AS LONG AS IT HAS BEEN PAID FOR FIRST ! Zero feedback bidders who are new to ebay are welcome to bid but MUST email me first. Please don't wait until the last day to contact me... The truck comes as shown in the pictures, no spare parts are included. I do have some parts including a set of rust free front fenders that I may consider selling to the high bidder but they are not included in this auction. Also, the previous owner lost the key so the truck is sold without it. Thanks and good luck Please remember to check out my other auctions! On 07-Mar-11 at 01:13:31 EST, seller added the following information: If you are planning to pick the truck up in person I can help you load it onto your trailer, you will NOT be driving it home. It hasn't been run in several years and it won't be ready to drive when it leaves here. All the tires are good and it rolls easily. If you are buying this truck and plan to ship it, please check into shipping costs/arrangements before bidding! An excellent place to get shipping quotes is Uship.com The truck is located in Prince George, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA V2M6K1 *** I will not make shipping arrangements for you *** I've bought and sold many vehicles over the years, I will work with you and your shipper and will do my best to make the transaction go smoothly.
