This is a 1975 Leyland Mini Moke. We are collectors, and have had this Moke almost 4 years, having purchased it from a classic car dealer in south Florida. I believe that he had purchased the car from someone in Illinois, and I think that he told me it had been sitting for a while before he had bought it. We are selling it because we have another later model year Moke that we are doing a ground-up restoration on, and I need the garage space in order to finish that project. We have used it as a 'fair weather toy' in the interim to get around our little town over the past 3 summers, and it has been reliable, and FUN!!! At the beginning of last summer we had the car checked out by a professional garage that specializes in British (and Australian built British) cars. At that time the fuel system was flushed, the carb was rebuilt, a new fuel filter was installed, switches were replaced, new stabilizer bushings were installed, motor mounts replaced, new radiator hoses installed, the radiator replaced, new water pump installed, new accelerator cable installed, clutch master was rebuilt, and the brakes bled & checked. It has a strong engine & clutch. The brakes need to be bled once more after sitting all winter, but they still grip well. The transmission shifter has a bit of play, but shifts smoothly. There is no top included, but the frame (see pictures) comes with the car. I drove the car about 10 miles a week ago, and after sitting all winter (with ethanol gas stabilizer in the tank, line & carb), it fired right up, and ran great! This is a great little car for taking to the beach, or for getting around a small town like ours, or it would be a BLAST in a beach town or on the Outer Banks! This is an TRUE Moke, not a rebuild or a Mini that was re-bodied using one of those cheap Chinese replacement shells, this is the REAL DEAL, built in Australia! The floor pans had been replaced before we bought it (Nice job, too! See picture.), and we applied bed liner 'paint' and the black carpet over them. The rear bench seat is not original, it had obviously been cut down by someone to fit the car, and we never permanently mounted it, instead we just used it as a 2 seater, and left the rear seat out. (See pictures with and without - it comes with the car, but is not installed) This car comes with a clear Virginia title which states that the mileage IS NOT ACTUAL! In fact, the odometer is inoperable, and the speedometer is inaccurate, and fluctuates. We have no way of knowing how many miles are actually on the car. The car comes with NO WARRANTY, either expressed or implied. It is a 36 year old classic, but it still has a LOT of life (and FUN) left! The car is located near Charlottesville, Virginia. I will be more than happy to show the car in person, and I encourage and will be glad to answer any questions about the car, but all arrangements and questions must be submitted through Ebay messaging by the actual bidder. Currently the car is insured on a classic car policy for $12,500. There is NO RESERVE on the car, so please don't bid if you aren't serious, or don't have the means to pay for it. Also, BIDDERS WITH LESS THAN 10 TRANSACTIONS ON EBAY, OR WITH BRAND NEW ACCOUNTS NEED TO CONTACT ME PRIOR TO BIDDING, OR I MAY REMOVE YOUR BID! Also, you need to have a linked PayPal account, or Ebay will block your bid. We chose this option to avoid fake and less than reputable bidders (we've had problems with fakes in the past). Upon winning the auction, the buyer must send a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit via PayPal within 24 hours, and if you choose the "Buy It Now" option, you must make the $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit via PayPal immediately - sorry, no exceptions. The balance is due IN CASH (no checks, not even a cashier's check) at loading. If you want to pay the balance by a cashier's check, it must be received by us no less than 3 working days prior to pickup so that it has time to clear. Sorry, but it seemed like there were more counterfeit cashier's checks going around last year than good ones! And the buyer is responsible for arranging transportation. We will be happy to load it on your carrier, but we aren't responsible for any damage during the loading process. Care, custody & control pass at payment. And unless arrangements are made prior to the end of the auction, the car must be picked up within 7 days from the end of the auction, or we will charge a $50 per day storage fee. (like I stated above, I really need the room, and want it in your garage, not ours!) Have fun bidding, and have fun with the car when you win!
