Vehicle Detail

1977 Volkswagen Beetle 25,800 miles! Beautiful car Im listing this for a family member it is his vehicle, The following is what I know about the car. The owner purchased this in July 1991, this was purchased from a Mercedes dealership in Aurora Illinois. When he purchased this for his wife it had 18,000 miles. He tells me they are origional, I don't have a car fax account to confirm this or not. The car has sat most of the time he has owned it, they would go out for a Sunday drive every now and then start it once a week. Please verify the mileage before bidding. It has a 4 cylinder with fuel injection. It is a 4 speed stick shift, it has an aftermarket Kenwood stereo with two kenwood speakers , the radio has an aux input plug. Exterior: extremely clean, there is no rott to body panels, the floor is solid, the undercarriage is in good shape with some surface rust to components. The white paint is very nice and shiny, I don't know who painted it, but it looks to be a quality job, the origional paint appears to be white, I say this because I could see a difference in whites in the engine compartment and the trunk. The bumpers are shiny and in great shape, they do show little signs of pitting to them. The running boards are solid. All glass is good. The top has no rips tears or signs of wear. The rear license plate bracket has some cracking in the paint (see pic) the passenger side rear fender has a small scratch about the size of a marker tip, the panel behind the passenger door has another similar scratch, both marks appear to have been touched up. (see pics) The passenger rear fender has a slight crack? paper thin 2 inches long almost at this inner part of the fender where it wraps around to the back. (see pic if noticeible) The piping and moldings are all in great shape. Interior: Beautiful White seats redone within the last 3 years, spotless black carpet, aftermarket radio(Kenwood) White boot for top,(perfect) dashboard has no cracks or fading, one knob for the heat controlls is missing, steering wheel has a corner of the middle section that has lifted away slightly. New carpet in the trunk that matches the interior. Mechanical: Runs great!!! I picked this up from Mount Prospect and drove it to my house 75 miles with no problems at all. Except it was a cold ride! It drives straight down the road, the transmission shifts effortlessly, and I was driving between 55mph and 70 mph. I dont know much about these cars, and Im told they dont really have heat, I couldnt get heat, but Im not sure if I was doing something wrong, there is a blower switch but it didnt seem to work, there are the two levers by the emergency brake but didnt seem to change the heat or lack of. So bring your gloves if your driving it home! Its been parked in my garage and I dont see any leaks of any kind under it. The tires look to have 95 percent tread on them. Work done; New paint not sure when, I will ask, new interior, 2005; oil and screen, injection cleaned, muffler, tail pipe, left and right exaust manifold, L and R heater boxes, Exaust gaskets, Valve cover gaskets, front and rear brake cylinders, and brakes, wheel seals, $3670.29 from Corvette auto repair in Lake Zurich (receipts included) I have recipts of emmisions and they all show pass. Im located in Manhattan Illinois which is 10 minutes from Joliet, you are welcome to view the car and take it for a ride prior to bidding. I do reserve the right to end the auction at any given time, if you want a true classic VW in great shape that has been very well cared for, you will love this car. Its in great shape you won't be dissapointed. I have listed everything that I know about this car to the best of my abilities. Thanks for looking and good luck, email with any questions. He hasn't found the receipts for the paint work but he recalls having it done in 2003 or 2004.
