Vehicle Detail
This is a really hard to find, great condition, unmolested five cylinder, 20V turbocharged, inter-cooled all wheel drive wagon with oodles of space, a third seating row and a proper safety rating (btw, eBay incorrectly defaults the listing to a turbo diesel config.) This one has factory heated seats, power door locks, power roof, power steering, air conditioning, power brakes, factory Bose stereo with 6-CD changer, power windows etc. Very sporty and reliable performance at 0-60 in under six seconds! It has been well looked after - we shuttled the kids back and forth from and to school with this one so we worked closely with our shop to address maintenance and reliability items proactively - we are selling because I picked up an S4 and sadly this one must go... Unique to the 1995.5 S6's were the factory sport Avus wheels, sport suspension, upgraded Torsen differential, factory silver instrumentation with black lettering, understated S6 badging, wider wheel wells, and the sport steering wheel. These last examples were built very late into calendar year 1995 well after other 1996 Audi models were being sold, making these 20V powertrains the most reliable out of a long production run (because longevity issues had been ironed out at the point of manufacture.) The engine runs strong, no smoke or unwelcome noises; body looks great with a few minor paint issues here and there: a few scratches, paint chips on front nose underneath light, a bit of paint bubbling under rear spoiler. No rust, as most minor cosmetic issues were addressed with a professional (no Maaco rubbish) repaint, no accidents. The upgraded Audi six speed S4 transmission and clutch are both smooth, also no problems. On the proactive maintenance front I would suggest the following: 1. Power steering hose is seeping (I'd purchase a used or reconditioned one on eBay for under $100 bucks and pack it in the trunk before a long, say 5,000 mile road trip.) 2. Brake pads and rotors will have to be done at some point, they are cheap on eBay but not throwing any wear indicator or warning lights; I'd say they are certainly safe. 3. I have not gotten around to hunting down a slow leak in the vacuum line for the passenger side automatic door lock - the result is that you sometimes have to reach over and unlock passenger door fr the inside. I am happy to describe the car in more detail and/or introduce a serious buyer to the shop that has known this S6 and expertly maintained it for most of its service life. I would prefer this S6 goes to someone who is familiar w these cars and that can stay on top of the usual maintenance items to get many more fun and reliable miles out of it. On the whole this is simply a fabulous car and I want this to be a good transaction for the right buyer, so please do ask any and all questions before bidding. Though pickup is ultimately the purchaser's responsibility, I am happy to reasonably assist out-of-town buyers with shipping or airport pickup - and yes, I would be comfortable driving it most anywhere as it sits. Please look at the pictures and check my feedback. Again, any questions feel free to contact me through eBay.
