Vehicle Detail
RARELY SEEN, CONVERTIBLE LOOKER!! Less than 2000 of these cabriolets were sold in United States. Even harder to find is a guards-red example that's in EXCELLENT shape. The interior, the dash, leather seats are in superb condition. The exterior is just as good…no visible scratches, dings, or dents. The paint condition looks great...more like a 2 year old car versus a 20 year old one. The alloys, with nicely painted Porsche logo, do not have any curb rash and its tires are less than a year old. Clutch was done at 108K miles. Major service completed at 115K miles including timing belt change. Many minor service, oil changes and one brake/clutch fluid service since then. Finally, it is complete as far as I know.. have all the manuals/books, tools, factory spare tire and accompanying air compressor, convertible top levers. I've been driving it everyday for over 2 years now and have never had any problems. For the last 10+ years, this car has been owned and well-maintained by Porsche enthusiasts. I'm the fourth owner and the previous owner owned it from almost 8 years. Have records from him; so combined with my records, the car has service history for last 10+ years. I've owned over 25+ cars (many Porsches, Bimmers, Benzes, Lotus, and others) and I would say this is one of the best everyday driving cars. It has a unique combination of many things important to enthusiasts like me: fun-to-drive, superb handling, plenty of street power, decent gas mileage, and most importantly, rarity and cool shape (A Road & Track 1989 cover had a caption on the car as "Speedster of the Nineties?"). When people see the car….many (especially non-enthusiasts) do a double take wondering what the car is and get even more surprised when they learn it is 20 years old. Finally, it has all modern amenities one would need for day-to-day driving: power steering, renowned 944 5 speed shifter, powerful ABS brakes, dual air bags, working cruise control, power locks/windows/top, temp controlled heater/a-c, factory car alarm, and upgraded stereo. This cabriolet model is also one of THE most underrated and over-engineered Porsches. It's chassis is from 944 Turbo and has 3.0L 16-valver engine that loves to rev. Porsche and ASC (American Sunroof Corporation) did a great job minimizing common convertible issues…minimal cowl shake or chassis flex and well insulated top. Its engine has over 208 hp and easily gets 22+ mpg. This car sold for almost $50,000 in 1990. The car has close to 135K miles. Only flaws I know about are: chipped fog lamp (see picture), the missing center compartment cover, and a rear license plate burnt-out bulb. The car is based in Seattle, WA. And is available for inspection thru Thursday this week, 3/3. On Feb-28-11 at 08:35:46 PST, seller added the following information: Had some inquiries. The car is located on the Eastside/Bellevue area in metro Seattle. For out-of-towners, the buyer is responsible for making shipping arrangements and costs. This listing and its contents do not imply or suggest any warranties. This is a used car and being sold is "as-is" and "where-is condition". On Mar-02-11 at 15:59:58 PST, seller added the following information: Per earlier question..took photo on top liner where it looked like a tear. It is NOT as you can see from pic below. Just normal stiching and design to accomodate top hardware or folding mechanism. I added to photos. On Mar-03-11 at 16:39:00 PST, seller added the following information: Added another pic of interior top: On Mar-04-11 at 12:46:37 PST, seller added the following information: Just lowered reserve! On Mar-04-11 at 14:01:14 PST, seller added the following information: Next bid wins the car!!
