1974 Lotus Elite Project car. Rare high perfomance sports car project. Barn find, Has been sitting in a Barn for the last 30 years, 44,055 original miles. All fiberglass body with a very unique shape. Motor is a high output aluminum alloy 4 cylinder twin 16 valve over head cam, with dual intake and stromburg carbs. Has Rack & Pinion steering, Independent floating 373 posi rear axle, 5 speed close ratio manual transmission. Hand Built in England, Only 2535 were made between 1974 - 1982, By the vin code I'm asuming this was car # 58. Fiberglass Body is very straight. Original color appears to be a deep purple that was painted over black. The steel under carriage frame componants have only surface rust, very solid, no rust through anywhere. Has Pop up head lights. The fiberglass body panels are not crackeling, no dry rot or chunks missing. The outer door skins have become seperated at the top from the inner structure, No damage, just need re-glued with some strong epoxy. Drivers door will open, but needs inner lock rods adjusted. Passenger door opens stiff, but smooth, needs lube. The seat cushion material was used as nesting material by squirrels, still has nut shells in the trunk. The Dash, panels, windshield & all glass are fine. rear side glass was loose, was pulled and put inside so as not to lose it on the ride home. Hood will close all the way, I have a piece of wood holding it up, did't want it to shut & lock until the dual lock reslease cables are lubed & not be able to get it back open. Aluminum Trim is excellent, but missing one rear quarter glass piece, & a small corner piece on rear glass left bottom. Also missing one electric radiator fan, it shows both front bumper turn lenes in pic's, but driver side was since bumped & cracked by the riding mower. Has the rare bucket seats, that the entire base moves up & forward for easy rear seat entry. Front bumper became un-glued, it's in good shape inside the car, rear bumper outer hard foam is rough. These are glued on, And many no longer have them at all. Have 5 factory Turbine rims, missing a few center caps. Over all, the car is 98% complete and never involved in any accidents. Interior is complete, but looks very rough because of bad carpet & squirrel damage to the seats, They also chewwed up some of the wiring under the hood, and looks like someone tried to cut & rewire some of it. Timing belt was either chewed through or snaped. It's not running, and being sold ( as is ) Rare drive train ( Same as in the Esprit ) Excellent project or parts car. Car has not been cleaned out, it's just as it was pulled from the barn. tires have dry rot, but will hold air for a few days for transport. I have the keys & original owners manual in the glove box. Original owers wife could not locate the title. So it comes with bill of sale only. I have been to the local Secretary of State, they ran the vin number, came back clear, and gave me an inspection sheet to apply for a title. If needed I can apply for the title, extra cost of $75 & will take a month to get back. Pick up only, will assist in loading. No Reserve.
