Sorry about some of the pictures. The sunny Southern California weather decided to wait until I took the truck out for pictures to kick up the wind and rain sideways, all while the sun was still out! This is one of those old hot rods that everybody loves and makes anybody smile. It is just cool! If you have been looking for a 40 Ford truck, finding one can be difficult enough. But finding one this solid, rust free, and one that drives this well is nearly impossible. Original Henry Ford steel CA blue plate truck and as rock solid as you will find anywhere. It is a 1940 Ford pickup that has been in heated storage for at least the last 22 years and driven occasionally. The body on the truck is awesome. The fenders, doors, running boards, bed, cab corners, etc. are all very nice. You won't find one this clean back East! Or probably out West for that matter. The paint was done in the 70s or 80s and has just the right patina. I certainly would not paint it. It is too neat like it sits. It has some checking. The underside is very clean and very solid. The frame is excellent. You can tell it is a bone dry California truck. It runs very well. It is smooth, strong, and surprisingly fast. It has a 1958 Corvette 283 c.i. small block Chevy that runs beautifully. It is a CQ suffix code. Finned aluminum valve covers. The truck does not run hot. It has full dual exhaust run out the back so it is relatively quiet but still sounds great. The truck is not a rattle trap like most. The suspension is good and it drives well. I would drive it anywhere. It is the original three speed manual transmission with the shifter on the floor that shifts like new. It goes through all gears easily. The brakes and clutch are both fine. The truck just cruises and is a pleasure to drive. It will draw a crowd anywhere you take it. The interior is tuck and roll. The seats are in nice condition, as are the door panels. The paint is peeling off of the dash around the vintage Stewart-Warner gauges, but I think it just adds to the truck's character. It has a vintage Moon Eye Equipment in-dash tachometer. The grill and chrome are in nice condition. Orange wire wheels. I don't think they are Kelsey-Hayes wheels. I'm sure they are aftermarkets. This is ready to enjoy. Whether you want a driver, cruiser, something to take to the street rod shows, the ultimate shop truck, or the coolest surf truck, this is a great opportunity to get your dream truck at a reasonable price.
