NOTE: This is one of those "Good News, Bad News" things. The bad news is that I was led to believe it was sold after my last auction ended, but after holding it for 2 weeks, the buyer didn't come through. The good news is that means you've got another shot at it, and I've dropped the price significantly ($1250) to make it even more appealing. I really need to find my stuff a new home. Let's do this... This is gonna hurt. A bunch. Here we go... If you've ever even thought about owning a Jeep (I apologize in advance for the cliche nature of this next statement) then this is the one you've been waiting for. Seriously. Please take the few minutes it will take to read the entire description. Even though it was built to be a "daily driver", this is definitely not your “normal” everyday jeep – this one is as good as they get. And because of "extenuating circumstances", I'm selling it for far less than you'd ever normally be able to buy it for. This is one of those rare situations where you actually are "in the right place at the right time". Why am I selling it? After 16 years in business, for the first time ever I've been severely impacted by particularly lousy economic conditions (I’ll spare you any political commentary) and to make sure the business survives this mess I need to lower my rather substantial monthly expenditures for the forseeable future while I repair the damage. Translation: I need to sell my house. Why is this relevant you ask? My house has an 8 ½ car garage, and I know wherever I end up won’t, so the toys have to go. And I have a bunch of toys. Really cool toys. Needless to say, this sucks. Not only do I really like my house, but I haven’t even had the chance to play with some of my newest toys because I’ve been so preoccupied with my business. Which brings me to this awesome Jeep. Who built it? Here’s the back story on this thing - I originally bought it in July of last year (photos 22 & 23 are what it looked like when I got it - you'll see the SniperFab logo on the windshield). Things were still goin’ pretty good for me when I stumbled upon it somewhat accidentally. I wasn’t looking for another Jeep (I also had an '08 Unlimited, which I just sold on eBay this past week), but I’ve always wanted to “do” a really cool YJ. I saw that the majority of the “heavy lifting” had already been done - it was an “in house” complete custom build by Sniper Fabworks in Oklahoma in late 2009/early 2010 (SniperFab is extremely well known in off road circles for their top quality custom fabrication work) and I thought it would be fun to finish it and have the coolest YJ anyone had ever seen. Well, being the fanatic (or should I say lunatic) that I am, I’ve been picking out all the coolest stuff and spending money on it like the proverbial “drunken sailor” ever since. Now that it’s essentially done, I find myself in the stupid position of having to sell it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a fun process getting all of the details addressed, but after all the time and money spent on it I was really looking forward to driving it come spring now that it’s done instead of takin’ a beating on it. Such is life. I can only hope the new owner will enjoy it as much I would have. Let’s get to it.. Here’s what was done before I got it as it was told to me by the owner of Sniper Fab, Don Davis: They started out with an exceptional, low mile 92 YJ (approximately 72,000 miles) and set about completely disassembling it. Literally everything was redone from the frame up and from the frame down. Don explained to me that when they do a build, they literally turn every nut and bolt on the whole Jeep from top to bottom and end to end. The tub was stripped bare, the exterior was given a fresh coating of Arctic White paint, and the interior completely coated with Line X. A new windshield was installed, and every piece of rubber on the whole thing was replaced as it was being reassembled. The roll cage was custom fabricated, powder coated, and installed, and the custom Twisted Stitch suspension seats were installed. Gauge Works custom dash and gauge clusters were installed, and it was fitted with a full set of Autometer Phantom white face gauges. A Joes Racing steering wheel was added, along with the Joes Racing Cage Mount Side View Mirrors and Wide Angle rear view mirror. They fabricated, powder coated, and installed all of the body armor (3/16 steel with countersunk stainless hardware) along with 3” steel tube fenders and the front and rear bumpers plus a custom belly pan/crossmember/skid plate. A TeraFlex rear disc brake conversion with braided brake lines was done, and while they were under there they did all of the suspension work they’re so famous for – new Crown factory leaf springs were installed front and rear. It was oversprung, shackle reversed, they added custom relocated front shock mounts and a rear upper shock mount bar, new shocks, high steer arm, tie rods and tie rod ends, a yoke slip eliminator, a 1 Ton front drive shaft, all new grade 8 hardware, etc. 17” Ballistic Hostel wheels were chosen and outfitted with 35” Interco M16 All Terrain Tires. Last but not least, they then went through all of the external components of the legendary 231 (4.0 liter) inline 6 (widely recognized as the best motor ever put in ANY jeep) including a new radiator, power steering pump and reservoir, belt, distributor, airbox, and anything else they could replace. They added a bikini top, and left the rest of the details up to its new owner, which, after a brief stint the first part of 2010 as a display vehicle at a dealership, ended up being me. The Jeep only has 2823 miles on it since it was reconstructed, and it’s never been off road. Not even once. It literally is almost like a new 92 Jeep YJ. Except that, aside from driving great on the street, it’s a far more capable off road vehicle that it was when it was new – the last photo (photo 24) was taken at SniperFab and it shows the suspension articulation. This thing can go places lesser Jeeps couldn’t dream of going. I had it shipped here and started figuring out what I would need to do to make it 100% done, and 100% right. After driving it a couple of times I discovered it was occasionally popping out of first gear when taking off from a complete stop, so after I got all of the other stuff done and not thinking at that point I’d be faced with selling it anytime soon, I had the transmission removed and completely gone through (in December of 2010) and had the first gear synchros replaced, which resolved the issue altogether. And the motor is an absolute sweetheart - it runs, drives, and rides perfectly – in fact, because of the components chosen and the improved suspension geometry as it was set up by SniperFab, it actually rides nicer than my 2008 Jeep Unlimited does, which I would never have expected. Last time I drove it I noticed there’s a very slight “shimmy” in the steering wheel at between 35 and 40 mph so it could probably use an alignment – I’ve put less than 200 local miles on it since I bought it so I didn’t even notice it until I was driving it home after I had the transmission done, and I haven’t had time to address it, so the new owner can decide if they want to bother with it. The only other thing you might wanna do if you're gonna do any serious off roading is add a winch. I just hadn't gotten to it yet, and this way you get to pick out the one you like best. Here’s a list of the stuff I’ve added or had done since it became mine, followed by a list of the things that had been done before it got to me. I’m sure I’ve overlooked a bunch of stuff, and I only included pricing for a handful of the higher ticket items – if you took the time to add up the cost of the work that’s been done, you’ll quickly realize that you couldn’t duplicate this jeep for within $10,000.00 of what I’m selling it for. Like I said earlier, I’m takin’ a beating. The good news is that my loss will be someone elses gain. I tried to get some good photos, but the actual proportions and the presence it has can't be captured well in pictures. Like I said earlier in the description – you couldn’t even get anywhere close to duplicating this Jeep for what I’m selling it for. In fact you couldn’t even buy the parts that have been added or replaced for what I’m selling it for. It’s gotta go – I’m not gonna have anywhere to put it, so somebody’s gonna steal a really cool Jeep. Because I need to find new homes for a number of my toys as quickly as possible, I've listed it at a stupid price with no reserve, so bid like you mean it - the high bidder at the end of the auction is gonna own it. If you're lucky, it will be you. Note: The odometer currently shows 2823 miles on it, which is the mileage since it was completely reconstructed. The Oklahoma title showed “Exempt” under mileage, presumably because of the year of the vehicle. I'm not certain, but technically I think I’m supposed to state that “actual mileage is unknown”. Just wanna be safe and make sure I follow the rules. And just so I don't set unreasonable expectations, it's not "absolutely 100% cosmetically perfect in every respect" - but it's pretty darned close. And I feel more than comfortable saying it's likely the most perfect YJ in existence, and whoever buys it will most certainly not be disappointed. After all, it's a Jeep, not a Lamborghini Gallardo. You wouldn't want it too perfect or you wouldn't wanna get it dirty. It's already spent too much time in my garage. I hope whoever buys it takes it out and has some fun with it. It would be an absolute shame not to. Check my feedback as a seller – I’ve sold a significant number of my toys on eBay over the years and you can see what people have said about my stuff. I’m a truly fanatical car and motorcycle owner - I have cool stuff, and I represent it accurately. My name is Bill, and you’re welcome to call me with any questions - I can be reached most of the time at 352.751.4878. If I don’t answer, please leave a message and I’ll call you back as soon as I get free. Keep an eye out for the other auctions I'll be posting soon - I just sold my Unlimited and now at least a couple of my bikes (including a rare OEM built 46 Harley Knucklehead Clone and a custom Night Rod Special) have to go too. And they're all nearly perfect. And very cool. And will be sold at unusually aggressive prices to facilitate quick sales. I gotta do this. I really have no choice. Good luck, and happy bidding.
