(looks New!) This car is a blast to drive, and a great eye catcher. It would make a nice everyday car, and a great commuter. It gets around 24-26 MPG on the highway, but Less if you get into that turbo. Selling to make room in a over- crowded garage. The car is for sale locally, so I deserve the right to end auction early if the car is sold locally. I can deliver this turbo beetle, or have it trailered for an extra charge. Title A clear Missouri title, clear of liens. Engine In 2002 VW came out with the fast 1.8 turbo engine, which was destined for the Turbo S cars. At the same time, VW was making the Special Edition cars, which stood out in their wild paint schemes and color matching leather interior and matching wheels. The special edition cars also received the 1781cc Turbo 1.8 liter engine, Pushing 180 HP @ 5500 RPM. This 20 valve 14 DOHC engine would remain one of VWs fastest beetle engines well into 2006. How fast? I own a Porsche 928 S4 and a BMW 645ci. My sweet wife has out accelerated both of my cars to 60 MPH with this Turbo VW. That’s hovering around 7.5 0-60 times! The turbo spools up quickly, with little or no lag. In 2006 model year, the hot 1.8 turbo engines were dropped completely. The new standard power plant for the New Beetle is the same 2.5-liter inline five that’s used in the Jetta, which brings only a meager 150 horsepower to the table to propel the New Beetle’s 3,000 pounds. In short, you can’t buy a fast beetle anymore…..they don’t make them. The Double Yellow- VW came out with a standard yellow color, a “pale” yellow. -The “Double Yellow” SE edition, was a deeper darker yellow, that you can spot a mile away. Don’t be fooled by dealerships that have “dark yellow” beetles, proclaiming to be “Double Yellows” true SE cars will have the two tone interior, matching 17 inch wheels, pop up spoiler and the 1781cc turbo engine. Kelly Blue Book When you price shop these cars, Kelly blue book lists the 2002 Turbo GLS at between 6470-7595.$ There is no listing for the “SPECIAL EDITION” Turbo S Color Concept Cars. These were made in very limited quantities, and are very collectable, and go for much higher prices.- Google -color concept VW Beetles, or “Snap Orange” “Double yellow” Blue lagoon””Red” and “Cyber Green” , you will find the proper pricing for these rare cars. (nice) http://newbeetle.org/forums/450633-post1.html Pros- This car has had three owners, and we purchased it from Florida from a dealer, who purchased it from a college student who traded it in on a new Honda. It has been well maintained and driven responsibly. The interior is free from defects, with no rips or tears in the interior. Many new expensive drive line components have been replaced. This car is ready to drive and is reliable. Its YELLOW! Cons- Moderate fading is noticeable on the front leather grab handle. The glove box handle has broken, you can still open the glove box, but you cannot lock it. The center console snap is also missing. There is a small repaired chip on the hood noticeable at around 2 feet. (picture) The right headlamp lens has a slight fade to it. It is cosmetic defect, and can be replaced for around 150.00. ebay- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619&item=130459495944&viewitem=&category=33710 At the buy it now price, I will purchase and install new headlamp assemblies for the car. (slight fade in right lamp) CARFAX Carfax checks out on this car, with two accidents listed. The price has been compensated to take this into account. The first in 2004 with the first owner involved front body damage only, and the second accident 5-12-2007 with the second owner. The Left rear fender of the car was hit by another vehicle. We purchased the car, and noticed no problems on the 1000 mile journey home to Missouri from Florida. The car tracked well, and mileage was great. After 980 miles, the Left rear tire, yes you guessed it, was wearing. After taking it into the shop, it was determined that the rear spindle/ axle was bent in that 2007 accident-- I am a little anal about my cars, so I had the ENTIRE REAR AXLE, AXLE ASSEMBLY, SPINDALS and BEARINGS replaced, along with the rear STRUTS. The car now drives like new, with no wear on the new tires. Receipts are available.
