1992 Jeep Cherokee "Laredo" Wagon is LOCATED IN JOLIET, ILLINOIS about 1.4 miles from the US 30 (Maple Road) interchange for Interstate 80. This vehicle is part of my late brother's estate and he used it to commute to and from work in the hard Chicago-land winters. The vehicle shows its 19 years of Illinois winters as the rocker panels and frame of the undercarriage are quite corroded. The interior is in very good condition and the vehicle is mechanically sound, as I have personally performed many services and repairs to get the vehicle "road worthy." Probate court action has recently permitted the sale of this vehicle from his Estate. Repairs and Services (May 2010 - Feb 2011): 1. Engine tuneup (plugs, timing, rotor and distributor cap, air filter element, clean and inspect plug wires) 2. Engine oil and filter changes: 3 times (April 10, Aug 10, and Dec 10) 3. Brake Fluid change. 4. Front tires ( LF & RF) replaced with new tires, balanced and mounted 5. Radiator backflush and coolant change 6. Replace all wiper blades 7. Install new Battery and service battery tray (2 yr pro-rated time warranty) 8. Install reconditioned starter and starter solenoid (1 yr warranty) 9. Replace & Install new starter relay switch 10. Install new Heater control valve, heater core hoses, and 6 hose clamps UNCORRECTED Faults and Deficiencies:1. Speedo head inoperative (no speed or odometer funtion)2. Cruise control inoperative (due to speedo)3. A/C SYSTEM - Inoperative (No refrigerant charge and requires a conversion from R-12 to R-134a refrigerant)4. Windscreen glass spider- cracked horizontally upper-middle, for the full width of the pane.5. Trim panel rear hatch door loose and unsecured, missing 2 screws and chasis clip hardware6. Left Rear tire slow leak at valve stem (about 1 psi per day)7. Right Rear door electric lock inoperative, manual lock only; requires a new electrical servo / door latch mechanism.8. Rear Brakes (drum) worn, needs new brake shoes. 9. Right Rear Wheel bearing noisy when cold (repack the bearing with rear axle brake service)10. Replace rear shock absorbers (they both look orginal with > 130, 000 miles) to improve vehicle 'ride.' 11.Tail exhaust pipe segment removed between the muffler and resonator (pipe is On Hand but has a hole). The 6 cylinder motor is a "rebuilt / reconditioned" 4.0 liter, "in-line" or "flathead" six, and is not the most fuel efficient (18 mpg hwy on unleaded gasoline). Reconditioned motor installed at 77,849 miles (13 years ago). My brother was the 2nd owner and the original (factory) motor was unserviceable at the time of his purchase. IF YOU HAVE AUTO MECHANIC's skills or can afford to put some "wheel-work" into servicing the rear axle, this is an ideal vehicle for commuting in the SNOW and ICE. The motor (by design) produces high torque and the drive train provides great 4X4 traction. This vehicle is 19 years old and needs some additional attention to be safe for high speed highways. The motor is exceptional and with a total "rebuild" of the starter electrical system (battery, starter relay, solenoid, and starter motor) it will provide highly reliable cold weather service. The "hatch back" provides easy access and storage for a trip to the grocery store or lumber yard. Roof rack supports 200 lbs. Jeep / Pioneer AM/FM/ Cassette radio with 4 Jensen speakers, provide good sound for the cruise. Bid with confidence, my feedback rating is 100%. I am an FAA commercial pilot and meticulous about mechanical standards for the vehicles I maintain or operate. This is a heavy (6000 lb GVW) truck/SUV and goes almost anywhere in the snow.
