Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1973 AMC Javelin. I've owned the car for about 7 years now, but due to moving back to Wisconsin and starting other projects, I need to sell the car (as much as I'd rather keep it!) *NO RESERVE* This car originally came from Lincoln Nebraska where it spent most of its life. I purchased it from Nebraska in 2003 and took it back to Wisconsin where I stored it in the winter times and drove it around in the summer. I moved to Vegas in 2006 and the car has been there since. I have since moved back to WI, but the car still sits in Vegas with my former boss, so it's time to let 'er go to someone who can give the attention needed in a classic car such as this. I've swapped out a lot on the car while still leaving it virtually stock. Only bolt on modifications are on the engine and I replaced the rear-end with a posi from an AMX as well. The interior used to be Beige but it was in terrible shape so I replaced that with a black interior. The seats and driving column bits remain from the beige interior. I covered the seats. Read below for specs on the car: Car specs: ** clear title ** (I am the 3rd owner) - Original AMC 304 C.I. V8 (150K approx) - 3 Speed Manual Transmission (Car was originally a 3 Speed auto, but when the auto went bad I just converted it to Manual. Also, the center console is not longer attached as it was designed for the auto, not the manual) - Hedman Ceramic Coated Headers - Edelbrock Aluminum Intake - Holly 650CFM 4 Barrel Carbeurator (electrical choke) - AMC20 Limited Slip Posi rear end from a 1969 AMX (replaced with original one wheel wonder axle) - Exhaust dumps into an X-Pipe and exits under the car (I never completed the exhaust to the back, though 80's Fox body Mustang tail pipes fit virtually perfect and the flanges are already bent to use these pipes) - Black Interior - Daisy Yellow Exterior - Vinyl Roof (in excellent condition) - Carpet was replaced with new black carpet in 2004 - Car has all Air Conditioning components (But is currently not working. It did work when I bought it, but it leaked Freon for some reason... I just didn't bother fixing it) - 4 drums all around (despite this it brakes VERY well. Way better than I ever expected out of a car on only drums) - New water pump - New alternator - New regulator - Replaced power steering lines- New cylinders in all 4 brakes - 4 brand new Firestone tires on Black American Racing Rims. Now, there's a list of things this car also needs done to it. You want an old classic car for a low price, that's what ya get. :^) Here's a list of things that need attention: - Speedometer functions, however the cable binds so I disconnected it. It will read faster speeds than you're actually going - Heater Disconnected. The heater's water valve went bad and I couldn't find a new one that was stock and in Vegas I didn't feel it was necessary to fix so I cut it out of the circulation. - Idle Arm Bushing bad. The steering has play in it because of a bad bushing, which I bought and have in the car it's just not been put on the car since I'm too far away to do it. :) - Inside Door Handles. It needs 2 new ones. Outside door handles are perfectly fine, however. - Air Conditioning Disconnected (as mentioned earlier I never bothered to recharge or find the leak. As such I replaced the belts and just put in a belt that bypasses the Air) - Fan controls for heat/air not functioning. I think it has a bad switch and I'm pretty sure I have another one laying around. - Oil Dipstick tube needs to be replaced- Fuel Pump bad. Last time I looked the car over mid Dec. I discovered the day I left Vegas there was a leak starting right at the point of the last bit of fuel line. I didn't get the chance to identify whether the fuel pump was leaking or if it was just the line simply needed to be replaced. I'm pretty confident it's the fuel pump. Fuel Pumps are a very easy replacement and the line is an even easier replacement. All in the engine compartment and easy to reach. (old cars had it so much better!)- Oil Change necessary (in case the fuel pump diaphragm is weak it's always good to change the oil as a safety precaution) As far as rust is concerned it's pretty minimal. Nebraska doesn't salt their roads like in WI, but when I bought the car I found that the rockers were a little eaten away in the back by the rear tires and there's a small bit of rusting on the bottoms of the back of the quarter panels. Very easy fix (and if you ask me not necessary unless you're looking to build a show car). Now if you'd like to see a video I created that was actually all about this car click the following YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXIWiAdsJuY Here, also, is a video that is a walk around the car, of the engine (running), interior, trunk, undercarriage, etc. (3 min) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRW7GIr9CnM If you'd like a full list of pictures in their largest size here they are: http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav1.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav2.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav3.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav4.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav5.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav6.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav7.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav8.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav9.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav10.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav11.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav12.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav13.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav14.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav15.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav16.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav17.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav18.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav19.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav20.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/carshow/carshowjav21.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics01.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics02.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics03.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics04.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics05.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics06.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics07.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics08.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics09.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics10.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics11.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics12.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics13.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics14.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics15.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics16.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics17.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics18.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics19.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics20.JPG http://drnoise.org/javelin/house/javelinpics21.JPGOn Jan-29-11 at 19:49:55 PST, seller added the following information: A few things I wanted to add to the description: 1.) I've been asked if the car can be driven from Las Vegas, to another point safely. The answer is yes, but NOT with a bad fuel pump (which i have listed already in the description). The pump is an easy swap out, however. An oil change would also be required (as described) for safety (always change oil immediately when changing a bad fuel pump. 2.) I forgot to mention that 3 of the 6 freeze plugs have been changed out with brand new ones.
