Vehicle Detail
RELISTING DUE TO A BANANA HEAD SCAMMER. YOU CAN'T EVEN BUY AN OLD FIXER UPPER GENERIC TRUCK FOR THIS PRICE. MAYBE WITH A MOTOR /TRANS NEEDING REBUILDING OR MAYBE DRIVETRAIN NOT EVEN IN THE VEHICLE (AND MAYBE NO TITLE WORK).. THIS IS UNUSUAL AND WORTH MORE IN PARTS THAT I HAS AND THAT COME WITH IT. AND, CONVERTIBLE WITH GOOD TITLE. THE TOP FRAME IS WORTH $1K, ESPECIALLY WITH THE NEW WOOD PARTS. PROJECT? Yes, but some important mechanicals done. There is a fairly new 6 VOLT battery and it has taken a charge so may be attemping a start soon. The motor was rebuilt several years ago. At that time also had a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. At that point the owner was not able to proceed and it was sold to the guy I bought it from. It was running three years ago. The plugs were left loose so each cylinder could have oil squirted into them and hand cranked/moved. The motor is not stuck. I may have it running before this listing ends, or at least by the next. The previous owner had it running by gravity can fed gas. Gas tank looks to be good condition and does have a drain plug (may be able to flush in place). I only bought it to help out the owner and sell. It was just picked up today. I haven't even cleaned it up, polished the chrome or tried to start it. See parts pictures. Has four new wood pieces. I believe two over windshield header, two side rail and one large back bow. The top frame is excellent and has the three latches. The rear top window is good (see pic). There are two driveshafts (not installed). This does have a RARE Willys back up light. An expert says there wasn't ever one, but this is labled Willys (maybe an option or after market of the time)? Also, a locking period gas cap. Most of the stainless trim is there. The bumpers are fairly straight and most of the chrome / stainless will buff out (Coke and tinfoil works great to reverse sediment . A couple splash panels as shown. The back seat bottom spring is pretty much gone, top/back rest part and support tube/frame is in vehicle. The front seat is all there. A seat from a small truck (Bronco or?) is in the back where the original bottom was. The windshield glass/framing is good. There are four wing window glass replacements with it (not pictured). Passenger wind wing glass is cracked. There is an original steering wheel other than the custom one on it now (see parts pic). Original wheel is not that good (see parts on the ground picture). Rockers have rust / previous bondo work on both sides as shown, but are mostly solid and there (see rocker underside picture). Passenger door has dents. Other rust is on left/driver windshield frame bottom(see pic) and in floors, roll under below rear bumper. The front floors are original with some small holes and the back floor has couple bigger holes (see pictures). Frame is great. The rear floor behind the rear seat almost rust free. Brakes are not working. I have some brake shoe reliners and rivots) Needs tires. Only two Willys hubcaps. Has a spare rim. This is a diamond in the rough; maybe just a "fix quick/Maaco paint" and beat it to the beach surf classic, or a restoration candidate. Comes with four inches thick of receipts, club books/info, parts contacts, receipts for the clutch parts and many repairs done in the 90's and recent history of the last owner. Has original owner's manual and a mechanics repair manual. Most of the original floor is there with random rust holes. Most good from back of front seat to back of jeep. There are sheet metal panels in front driver/passenger floor areas. The cowl/firewall seems good. I do have the glove box door. Gauges and guages glass look good; has dash ashtray; knobs pull out. Front steering seems tight (NOT worn steering box gears). Motor builds compession with a few hand turnings and that is with the plugs not torched tight (as mentioned above plugs left loose to squirt oil into cylinders and occasionally hand turned over the sitting years. Has new plugs, wires, cap, points, rotor, etc done by previous owner). Only reason it has its present rust is because two owners back, lost his indoor storage for awhile and it sat out for almost a year. Otherwise, inside mostly. Buy it now or you will not own it. Just fixed as a beach cruiser, it is worth $2k or $3k more. On Jan-18-11 at 14:03:51 PST, seller added the following information: This has a clear Florida title. Vehicle ID # is: P25216. Color: Red. Manufacturer's plate under dash reads : 451 BA1 10173On Jan-19-11 at 02:53:38 PST, seller added the following information: There is the non-original for sale on ebay @ over $3k. This may be a project, but it will not sell for barn find or 30 year sitting in a field price. Again, just in parts, it's worth more than my price. Excellent top frame with new wood, older rebuilt motor and new parts, most all trim parts, over-all solid, all glass present(4 extra replacement vent glass), seat/dash parts, title, two driveshafts, etc. It may become my beach buggy. A month from now, new brakes, fast-Eddy paint, floor rust spots steel plated (I have some steel), bucket seats (I have 70's VW high backs sitting on a shelf) and no top (wide whites; chrome rims instead). I also have a 62 Studebaker Champ pick up truck soon to be on ebay. Package deal? On Jan-20-11 at 15:31:46 PST, seller added the following information: There's a big spread between the bidded amounts and $2800 buy now. If $2800 number is out of reach in the "project" sense, there must be a driver preference mentality, I guess (since the non-original, almost driver now on ebay at $3,957; about 16 hours auction time left is more in demand*yes I know 1948*verses 1951). A basket case like mine might go for $500 to $1000. Basket case being motor/trans diassembled, no glass, maybe no gas tank or trim pieces, etc. Two or three more listings it will go. I did get ebay credit/refund on the Banana head syndrome buyer. On Jan-21-11 at 15:11:04 PST, seller added the following information: I can get you one of these same condition, incorrect floor weld install for $4000. Or, four of these, two with engines (condition unknown and probably won't run easily like mine) and two no engines, all projects-$10,000. Or, just buy a restored one. Or, buy mine. I guaantee I willhave it running for next listing. Not on this listing because I will not be able to get to it until next week.
