Vehicle Detail
PROJECT? Yes, but some important mechanicals done. The motor was rebuilt several years ago. At that time also had a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. At that point the owner was not able to proceed and it was sold to the guy I bought it from. It was running three years ago. The plugs were left loose so each cylinder could have oil squirted into them and hand cranked/moved. The motor is not stuck. I may have it running before this listing ends, or at least by the next. The previous owner had it running by gravity can fed gas. Gas tank looks to be good condition and does have a drain plug (may be able to flush in place). I only bought it to help out the owner and sell. It was just picked up today. I haven't even cleaned it up, polished the chrome or tried to start it. See parts pictures. Has four new wood pieces. I believe two over windshield header, two side rail and one large back bow (i will have pictures of these tomorrow). The top frame is excellent and has the three latches. The rear top window is good (see pic). There are two driveshafts (not installed). This does have a RARE Willys back up light. An expert says there wasn't ever one, but this is labled Willys (maybe an option or after market of the time)? Also, a locking period gas cap. Most of the stainless trim is there. The bumpers are fairly straight and most of the chrome / stainless will buff out (Coke and tinfoil works great to reverse sediment . A couple splash panels as shown. The back seat bottom spring is pretty much gone, top/back rest part and support tube/frame is in vehicle. The front seat is all there (picture to be taked tomorrow). A seat from a small truck (Bronco or?) is in the back where the original bottom was. The windshield glass/framing is good. There are dour wing window glass replacements with it (not pictured). Passenger wind wing glass is cracked. There is an original steering wheel other than the custom one on it now (see parts pic). Original wheel is not that good (see parts on the ground picture). Rockers have rust / previous bondo work on both sides as shown, but are mostly solid and there (see rocker underside picture). Passenger door has dents. Other rust is on left/driver windshield frame bottom(see pic) and in floors, roll under below rear bumper. The front floors are original with some small holes and the back floor has couple bigger holes (see pictures). Frame is great. The rear floor behind the rear seat almost rust free. Brakes are not working. I have some brake shoe reliners and rivots) Needs tires. Only two Willys hubcaps. Has a spare rim (pictured). This is a diamond in the rough; maybe just a "fix quick/Maaco paint" and beat it to the beach surf classic, or a restoration candidate. Comes with four inches thick of receipts, club books/info, parts contacts, receipts for the clutch parts and many repairs done in the 90's and recent history of the last owner. Has original owner's manual and a mechanics repair manual. On Jan-14-11 at 04:28:49 PST, seller added the following information: It has FOUR windwing glass extrax/replacements (as mentioned right one is cracked). I will add the dash, windwing, front seat and floor (back seat removed and floor cleaned) pictures if possible today. If ebay system won't let me (sometimes when a first bid is placed, it prevents this). Send email for these pictures, or they will be placed in the next listing(s). As impossible as it sounds, I could probably have this running, moving, brakes intalled, bondo'd, painted, new tires (wide whites of course-$600) and floors amateur patched in less than a month if I had nothing else to do. That certainly would not be for perfection and maximum show impact. Just budget SURFBOARD party/fun/not worry bout dent/scratch, grocery store/errand eye carcher status (with maybe never driving in rain peservation mode). I've been known for this evaluation and accomplish, get-r-done finale. And, I'm 61 years old. A younger common sence mechanically inclined bro can certainly accomplish this. You wouldn't want to get hung up on perfection for this time frame turn around. I'm estimating $4500 final bill if done this way, and you can adapt body repairs, do mechanicals yourself (brakes, etc). If it doesn't sell in a reasonable time, I will get-r-done and relist (or maybe keep). On Jan-14-11 at 06:52:32 PST, seller added the following information: I now have a picture of the NEW wood pieces mentioned above. There is also a new exhaust pipe (installs from exhaust manifold to rear leading exhaust pipe; approx. 4 foot long w/bend; not installed of course). On Jan-14-11 at 15:38:13 PST, seller added the following information: I now have the pictures of the dash, gauges, door scuff plates, inside door board covers and back side cardboard screwed on panels. Also took more of the floor, under and in; under back seat. Most of the original floor is there with random rust holes. Most good from back of front seat to back of jeep. There are sheet metal panels in front driver/passenger floor areas. The cowl/firewall seems good. I do have the glove box door. Gauges and guages glass look good; has dash ashtray; knobs pull out. Front steering seems tight (NOT worn steering box gears). Motor builds compession with a few hand turnings and that is with the plugs not torched tight (as mentioned above plugs left loose to squirt oil into cylinders and occasionally hand turned over the sitting years. Has new plugs, wies, cap, points, rotor, etc done by previous owner). Only reason it has its present rust is because two owners back lost his indoor storage for awhile and it sat out for almost a year. Otherwise, inside mostly.
