Vehicle Detail
Up for display is a Deep Shadow Blue 1989 Saleen Convertible #341. It is a good car but is not 100% correct for you Saleen Pursuist…but if you want a rare, 53k mile Fox body Saleen, this may be you. It is 1 of 15 Deep Shadow Blue Convertibles for 1989, 1 of 13 straight drives the other 2 were autos, it is a Stripe delete car and a 3.55 ratio car as well, so was told 1 of 3 so equipped. The stripes are still in the box but are 21 years old. If cars could talk I’d love to hear what this one has to say, I have not been able to dig up a ton of history on it. It has been repainted once that I can tell. It has all the VIN stickers on the body panels, which is a Good sign on a car of this age, most have some overspray on them from the repaint but those that you can see are original to the car. The Saleen badging is in place and the car still has the Hurst shifter and original underpinnings, but its missing the original wheels and is riding on Anniversary Cobra Wheels with excellent tires. It has a MOMO wheel but does not seem proper to the car, as it does not have the cruise feature that was new for 89. The original Flofits are gone and in their place are some Corbeau seats and the rear seats and door panels have been recovered to match. It is also missing the strut tower brace. All this was like this when I bought it…..like I said I’d love to know the history , but I’m telling you what I see or know. Is it a show car? Not in the least……is it a sharp driver? Yes. Is it a rare car? Yes. Is it low miles? Yes. Is it presentable as is? Yes, it garners a lot of attention and always gets thumbs up or a comment at the gas station the few times I take it out. IT still has the catalytic convertors on it, Sub frame connectors have been added as well as aftermarket mufflers. It has a light bar and the original radio has been replaced by a Pioneer CD player. I know what the car is and I know what the car isn’t so only call if you are serious about purchasing it. I will leave you with this; I bought one of the other 15 DSB Convertibles new in 1989 and sold it by order of my insurance co (long story). I have watched for other DSB 89 Convertibles to change hands since then (1990) and have only seen a few change hands or that were offered to the public for sale. So, when I saw this car, I bought it due to its rarity and even though key parts are missing or altered, it was the Car of my youth and appears to have all original body panels, etc. Is it a 20k to 30k car? Not no but Heck no! It is reasonably priced at $14,500. I am not driving it near as much as I thought I would and I enjoy my Early Broncos more…do I have to sale it ? No, but it may be a car for someone else and I am not utilizing it at all. Thanks 704-507-2453
