Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1973 Buick Centurion 2 door hardtop coupe. This vehicle is sold inoperative (non running) but shows 71,712 miles and that is believed to be correct. It is a southwest US car that was purchased by me in Missouri (has Kansas title) and brought to near DES MOINES, IOWA. It was parked by the previous owner 4 years ago due to gasoline costs. It was parked outside and now has some rust issues. 99% is surface rust. I have provided a photo of the rust out I could locate. There is some rust out on the wheel well of the rear passenger side but it is minor (in my opinion). I was tempted to put this car in the SALVAGE parts section to save costs over the $40 base fee ebay charges but here we go. The body is straight. The body color is Cinnamon Brown with a parchment vinyl roof needing replacement but there. The interior is dark saddle brown and needs carpet and drivers seat seam repair. I am selling because I have 3 total Centurions including 2 73 Coupes. I am looking at 2 other cars but am out of space. I mention the Centurions I have because of all 3 this one by far has the best interior. The dash is very nice as is the seating and door panels. The carpet can be expected to need replaced. It's typically considered a wear item. But the front seat can be used but would be best with an upholstery job on the seat to restore to original condition. Then, with carpet, interior is DONE on the cheap. I just paid $500 to get two dashpads for my Centurions and both came in cracked after being tossed around by UPS and being in the cold. This dashpad and dash are perfect NO CRACKS! The body is actually very nice. The grille and glass and plastic lamps are also nice. The motor is Buick's 455 backed by a TH400.Seller told me TH400 transmission was rebuilt in last 30,000 miles. No visible leaks from engine, trans, or radiator. CHROME BUMPERS LOOK NICE, ONLY NEEDING POLISH. Has Buick road wheels/mags. This is a project car or great parts car but I don't part cars out this nice. I feel like I have probably wasted my writing skills on this description because nobody is buying project cars unless they are high buck muscle cars. What a shame! This is a whole lot of project car without spending $5000 on a Chevelle or Mopar shell that needs so much more. This is a complete car with Buicks big block motor. Good: Complete. Nicely optioned car with cruise control, tilt steering, 455 (option in 1973) almost perfect interior requiring minimal cost to restore to original. Good glass (save you money) Straightforward body restoration -no major dents (no dents) and minimal manageable rust. NOTE: This car is being offered to create space so that I can purchase another car. I own a 72 Centurion formal coupe and this car is much better then that one! I own a 73 Centurion 455 coupe sitting outside. My photos are not the best because this car is being stored in my heated garage and I ain't opening the door! NOTE2: I have $1100 in this car and it won't sell for that. I am losing money to move iron. You need to pick this car up within 6 weeks. Needs to be paid for quickly because it won't sell for much. May not sell at all, in which I case I just don't get the other car I am after. How about $500 deposit, balance on pickup. I honestly describe my cars, I do not oversell them. I lose money on every car I sell but at least I have no enemies. So think about it. You can bid up a Chevelle or Camaro rust bucket with no interior and no drivetrain into the $4000 to $6000 range or have a great Buick big block for pennies on the dollar. I wish I could get a shot but this car looks very nice with it's raised white letter tires and Buick factory mags. be the only one around with one. These are very fast cars when completed. The 455 can be tuned to about 400 hp and 500-525 foot pounds torque. Again, the only reason I am selling is because I already have 2 other Centurions and I am looking to add 1-2 more cars to my collection and I am out of space. email me at abc.moran@netzero.net with questions.
