Vehicle Detail
To all serious beetle collectors who are looking for a 1966 orginal bug! Last April - I brought this car from L.A. California to restore and drive. At last she is finished. I have done most of the work myself, and overseen the rest. My objective while restoring was to keep all orginal parts or refurbish as needed. What covinced me to do this project was when I flew from Colorado to California got in the daily driver and drove back to Loveland Colorado in 20 hours with absoulutly no problems. At this time the car was all orginal in cluding the paint job from 1966. It was built in May of 1966 in Germany, shipped and sold September 23,1966 in Kansas U.S.A. Pan and body matching # 116938591. Motor # F0853385, Transaxle # 113.301.3002,6-volt. Folks, this is a complete body off pan restoration. Pan was sand blasted and resealed with Urathane then painted. All rubber replaced throughout the car. However there is one thing that I have not seen listed which does apply to this bug, and that would be the under tar board and insulation. These are located under the carpet-kit or floor mat and backseat. In most bugs these are over looked. The purpose of these are for sound deadening and temperature. All Engine cyclinders tested at 95 to 100 PSI. There wasn't need to rebuid the engine, so I just took all of the sheet metal and top end of the motor appart, and clean in it up. Only a new ignition was put in, and everything else was from 1966. We painted the orginal "Seasan", L-568 color. Check out the dash as we didn't paint it since it was not necessary. Great match , check the picture and compare with the door jams as those were painted. All orginal fenders, bumpers (rechromed), aprons, deck lip, hood, pan, engine, transaxel, wheels, ( painted pearl white - as orginal), spare tire ( made in Germany from 1966 - holds air and not recommended to use), Jack, tool bag, all glass ( check stamp's in pictures), seat upolstrey ( all horse hair removed and relpaced with jute converntional padding), door panels, mirror, laights, muffler, wiring, under hood wire and cluster cover, fuse box and cover (insdie cab), speed ometer, radio (it still works), seat belts, break fluid and windshield washer reserve ( all cylinders, line's,hoses, pads and rooters replaced and turned), etc. I am sure that get the IDEA! Daily driver or long trip's, will be no problem. The heater, ( all vents) work perfectly. Folks - this is a brand new bug from 1966. There was no corners cut. $7,000 in recepts and over 400 hours invested with the car being 99% orginal from 1966. I can not express the commitment, and perserveance that I put into this car enough. Well times are tough and my kids are getting older. Money is needed in my family, so I'm selling instead of driving this beauty. I have A clear California title and bill of sale in hand. Included is the orginal key, sales slip, ornwers manual, service schedual guide with dealeers pouch for the glove box. International sales are welcome, as are pre- purchase inspections. Very low reserve, bid to WIN!
