JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!! MAKES A GREAT GIFT!!!!! 1977 DATSUN 280Z ~~4 speed manual~~ Original White Paint w/ Original Tan Interior Excellent Condition / Runs Strong / Looks Great For sale again in this auction is one excellent condition 1977 Datsun 280Z, four speed manual, with original white paint, and the original tan/brown seat interior. Serious bidders with sufficient funds only this time please. This car is straight and has never been in an accident. I purchased it from the original owner and he confirmed the vehicle has never been hit, contains no filler, and was never repainted. The beautiful white Datsun paint from 1977 shines as bright as it did when it was new due to the waxing ritual of the original owner and myself. This auto has been well maintained every year it has been on the road. As a result, the original drivetrain is in place, and the car runs as smooth today as the day it rolled out of the dealership. This car is reliable and a true pleasure to drive. It is in daily driver condition, and currently needs nothing. Buy it and drive it!! This classic is ready to go!! The work is already done!! If you've always wanted a Z, but couldn't find one in great condition, then this is the one to buy. This is a Westcoast Z transplanted to New York. Lucky bidder will not be disappointed!! It would not take much to make this car show ready!! Check out the photos. I was always a fan of these Datsun Z's, and have had several over the years. This is my third 1977 and by far the best one I've owned, and I hate to see it go. I bought and sold them around 6-7 years ago until I found one that was worth keeping and HLS30-403628 was the one worth keeping. It ran like a top, it was clean, dry, original, and no major rust issues. I made a few enhancements over the years, but overall the car has given me more than I gave to it. Recently, my life has taken a new direction. We had our first child 9/1/10, and I no longer have the time to enjoy my hobby car, or any hobby for that matter. This is not a car that wants to be stored on a shelf like a figurine, it wants to be driven, and I just dont have the time. Besides, I need the room in my garage for other things now. That being said, I hope to find a buyer that will appreciate this classic 280Z as much as I, and as much as John, the original owner. John was in the military for over 25 years. He believed in preventative maintainence, and kept a rigid schedule of oil changes, grease jobs, washing, and waxing. He was stationed in Arizona during the period he owned this Z car. The Arizona weather kept the 280Z very dry and John kept her well waxed and greased for the first 27 years of service. I bought the car from him and shipped it to New York in 2004. From the first day it arrived, and every day that followed, this 280Z has been stored responsibly in an enclosed garage, and only comes out on a sunny day with zero chance of precipitation. The results are a 33 year old car that looks as good as it did when it was new. This car really looks sharp. Though there are a few small chips on the hood and the nose from normal road wear, they have been touched-up and do not take away from the beauty of this classic!! When the time comes that this car needs a new paint job, the minor chips can be addressed. For now, the car looks great and turns heads everywhere I drive it. The interior is in great shape as well. It needs nothing and is ready to drive!! Check out the pictures, they tell the whole story. Included with the car is a 3" binder containing the documented history of this Datsun 280Z. In this binder you will find the original bill of sale, the original owners manual, the original warranty booklet, the original loan documents, the letter from the bank marked paid in full, and assorted service records from the past 33 years. There are even records of state inspections which document the mileage on a specific date, so the winning bidder can be certain my reported mileage is true. I am always amazed at how many undocumented low mileage early z's there are available on the internet, and wonder if there would be as many if Datsun used a 6 digit odometer on these cars. My mileage is documented and I am certain it is true. Most well maintained Z cars ran over 300,000 miles before they needed to be retired, so my car is young by those standards. Also in this binder are copies of the print advertisements for the Datsun/Nissan Z from 1971-1994. The advertisements are inserted in chronological order as are the service records and state inspection receipts. This binder serves as a great conversation piece at the classic car shows, and adds a bit of history to the ownership experience. During the time that I owned this car, I made a few enhancements. The steel rims were replaced with genuine Z mags from a later year. I polished those rims to a shine and paired them with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. The tires are practically new with less than 3,000 miles on them. The car is stored on blocks during the off-season, so the tire shape and integrity are not compromised. They really make for a comfortable ride. Recently installed Sears Diehard Battery. Car starts right up!! I installed a new Kenwood radio with CD player and a powered subwoofer in this 280Z. The radio is placed exactly where the stock radio used to be. I replaced the original center console at this time because it was cracked in several places. The new console was strengthened to provide better support to the new radio, and as a result, the CD player has not skipped yet. The dash looks real nice, no visible cracks, probably a professionally installed full dash cap. The powered Subwoofer is located under the rear deck, and out of sight. I took some pictures during the radio installation because the seats were out and the carpet was pulled up. There was no rust on the floor boards, the spare tire well was clean, there was no rust to be seen anywhere. I had to take pictures because I didn't think anyone would believe me when I said there was no rust. After the radio was installed, I put two coats of wax on all of the exposed metal, then put the carpet back down, and reinstalled the interior. It was a fun project, and it confirmed what I already knew about this car, it was a keeper. This year I replaced the exhaust. The original muffler lasted 33years! I replaced it with a performance muffler from Z Motorsport. I also replaced all of the exhaust pipes from the manifold and back at this time. The pipes are a bit wider than the stock pipes, and I felt a difference in the performance off the line. The car sounds mean and ready to run also. The seats are near perfect. There is not a rip to be found in either seat. When I bought the car, there were several tears in the comfort weave in the centers and backs of both seats. I could not find the original material to replace my torn comfort weave, however, I did locate two seats with near perfect comfort weaves, and tears in other areas. I gave an upholsterer all four seats and requested he return me two perfect seats, and he did. They make the interior look awesome!!! Check out the pictures. The vintage wood steering wheel and wood shift knob add a very distinctive look to this 280Z. The color matched shift boot and parking brake boot is like the cherry on the sundae. There is some detail work under the hood also. For starters, the original valve cover was replaced with a polished valve cover. The stock oil cap was replaced with a chrome oil cap. There are some other chrome details added to the engine area like valve cover bolts and oil filter cover. The car looks dressed up and ready to go out. When the valve cover was replaced, the tachometer became a little temperamental. Sometimes it works, other times it sticks around 3000 rpm. Either way, I don't use the tachometer. I know when to shift my car. Most importantly, the engine does not leak any oil, and I did not want my mechanic to open her up again to correct the situation. It was not that important to me. The clock does not work. Are you surprised? All other gauges do work, as well as the dashboard indicator lamps. The sunroof was dealer installed and appears on the original dealership work order. The sunroof does not leak, and provides great ventilation for the cockpit area. All three 1977 280Z cars I owned had them. It must have been popular that year. There is a small crack in the windshield, approx. 1/2 inch in length, and it is only on one side of the glass. It does not go through to the interior. Was like that when I bought the car 6 years ago, and has not changed or progressed. What else can I say, this car is awesome. It is the real deal and a must have for any serious Z car enthusiast. Due to the age of the car, it is being sold as is. It has been nothing but a pleasure for both of its owners, and I'm sure the third owner will be saying the same. Ask me any questions about the car. It would be my pleasure to answer anything I can. Have fun bidding!!! This car is available for sale on other websites and it is being offered locally, therefore, I reserve the right to end this auction early. ~~~Thank you for visiting 21st CENTURY SANFORD~~~ Whether I'm selling my junk, or someone else's junk, this is your chance to make it YOUR JUNK. Please check out my other auctions!!! Thank you for visiting this auction!!! Go to 21st CENTURY SANFORD for other hard to find items!!! Check out my other items - opens in a new window or tab! On Dec-26-10 at 08:28:54 PST, seller added the following information: We are getting very close to the reserve price!!!! The next bid could be high enough to cut this classic loose. It is worth much more than the reserve price, so rest assured the winning bidder will be very pleased with the purchase. Remember that the tires, the exhaust, the battery, and the radio are almost new, the seats are almost perfect, and the car starts right up every single time I turn the key. This car was in awesome condition when I bought it, and I made the proper investments to take it to the next level, without doing so much that it would lose its identity. I am now passing those benefits to the new buyer at a fraction of the cost. If you spend a little more when purchasing these classics, you get the better examples. Buying a better example in the first place saves money in the long run. Good luck and happy bidding!
