Vehicle Detail
I restored this van to have the best of both worlds: Modern, reliable and efficient transportation with the vintage style and character of a one of a kind vehicle. In a nutshell, I have been through every component system on the van, I even took apart the "pop top" and replaced the old rotten wood frame, running wheels and gaskets and weatherstripping. The power comes from a professionally rebuilt 1980's 200ci motor. Some parts are original where appropriate, and others, such as the upgraded throttle cable, bosch coil duraspark distributor, tachometer, oil pressure and amp gauges, are great improvements from original equipment. The amazing thing about this van, is that almost all the parts are widely available, and most likely will be for the indefinite future. The short wheel base of the van makes dirt roads accessible, while the large radiator makes it impossible to overheat on planet earth, dual gas tanks take the stress out of blue highways. The reversible passenger seat, large propane tank, 3 way fridge, stove, 20 gallon water tank, and two battery charging system make it a very livable space or office. There is a removable middle seat for the doghouse which is equipped with a seat-belt. While the Van had it's share of bumps, bruises and bondo, all work has been professional and now has new paint, an NO RUST. The frame is straight and strong. Actual mileage is unknown, but for all intents and purposes, the van has about 20K on it. The only issues are the fuel gauge, which reads empty when there's still gas in the tank, and the horn is not working, though I will probably get it going by auctions end. This is the earliest Travelwagon I know of, and there are Very few left. You can have the best of both the old and new worlds, and if you can build with legos you can fix most everything on this van yourself. I will assist with reasonable transport services but will under no circumstances guarantee delivery. Also, I have a fancy 3/4 moon shaped horn ring, I'll let the winner pick the simple horn ring or the fancy one. Also, I have some extra parts to throw in, an extra carb, my road kit with extra nuts and bolts, an extra distributor and coil for a backup, two extra new tires... and probably a few other odds and ends that should go with the van... feel free to call me between 7 and 9 pacific time... (david 909 982 0878) there is really too much rebuilt on this van for me to think of... for example I forgot to mention I rebuilt the windshield washer system and the headliner... so so many little things... I hope this van will find an owner that will love it like our family has... We have been many miles and this van is truly ready to go anywhere..
