Vehicle Detail
I am listing this car for a friend of mine. He acquired this 1931 Model A Victoria as a period hot rod project. However another long-desired car came along, a 57 Olds, that was a great deal that he couldn’t pass up. Consequently this car is going to a new home so he has room for his toys. This “Vicky” is a survivor car, having lived most of it’s life in So-Cal’s high desert, where he bought it. For an 80 year old car, it runs and drives well. 2nd gear is a bit noisy. It has been registered in California continuously for at least the last 30 years and has the black & yellow plates issued in 1963. A previous owner updated the car with a 12 volt electrical system, including an alternator, turn signals, and a new pressurized radiator with temperature gauge. The wheels were changed to the 1935 style with the larger hub cap covering the lug nuts and larger big’n’little tires. It has the correct Nov 1930 dated engine with a new ignition system and exhaust manifold. The car has a great patina on the original green colored paint. The body and sheet metal are very good, but the hood tops and the right rear fender are rough and would need attention if the new owner wanted to repaint the car. The interior is obviously older, but very serviceable. It has the black cardboard door panels, rear side panels and headliner. The seats are done in brown leather. All the glass is good and the windows crank up and down as they should. My friend added a dropped headlight bar to reduce the “bug eye” look of the original headlights. He also added a 32 front spreader bar to hold the front license plate below the radiator instead of hanging it from the headlight bar. He has driven the car locally for the last year. It draws a lot of attention due to it’s survivor appearance. The car is very presentable as it is and the purist would probably just keep it as is. The car is available for inspection in Anaheim, CA. Anyone wanting to see it in person should send their e-mail address or phone number, which I will forward to the owner to set up a viewing time. Please don’t wait until the last day for questions to be submitted. Anyone wanting more photos can send a request of what area they want photos of and we will try to get them as soon as possible. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. We will do whatever we can to assist in the shipping. Delivery can be done by the owner, who is retired, to the SouthWest, but this must be arranged before the end of the auction. Due to many requests, I have added photos of the car. The hood is wavy, but does not show up in a photo. Thr right rear fender is bad at the edge bead. Good luck bidding and thanks for looking. On Dec-22-10 at 23:53:07 PST, seller added the following information: After receiving a question about the VIN on the car, I did some research. The VIN on this car is on a body tag attached to the firewall. This body was made by Murray, who attached body tags in this fashion. The first digits of the tag are 190A which is the body code for a 1930/31 Victoria. The VIN has an "A" suffix indicating it is a Murray body.
