Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1979 C3 Chevy Corvette – High Performance 355 Summit Crate Engine Up for auction is my Classic 1979 Chevy Corvette. This car overall is in good condition, and runs like a top. Overall this car is mechanically sound; It mostly needs cosmetic work and with a little bit of elbow grease has a lot of potential to be a great running car and a good looking on also. If you are looking for a good winter project car that runs and drives this is for you. I have set my reserve by far lower than any of the other C3’s listed here on Ebay. I will do my best to describe this car in as much detail as possible, but if you are seriously interested I encourage you to contact me and setup a time prior to the close of the auction for you to come and view this car in person. The Body The body itself is actually in excellent condition. Generally these cars tend to form cracks in the body very easily but the body on this car is very solid, and straight. The only two cracks in the entire car is a one inch crack in the center of the passenger door, and a chip on the bottom corner of the drivers door. Both are easily repairable. The paint leaves a lot to be desired and I will be up front and say this is car MUST be repainted. The car is a repaint of the original color, and although the car was prepped correctly the paint was not laid down correctly thus the paint is peeling everywhere. The car looks horrible, but if you spent the time just to sand the car, fix the two cracks and repaint it with very minimal body work this car would look great. This was my plan until my finances changed. The Engine and Transmission The engine is in excellent condition and runs really well. The engine is a Summit Racing 355 Crate Motor that is rated at 300HP and 350 ft-lbs of torque. The engine was installed in the car over a decade ago when summit was still building performance crate engines and I am told it has very little mileage on it although it is filthy from years of sitting in the car. The car was put into storage shortly after, sat for nearly a decade and was put back on the road in 2006 and taken back off the road in 2009. As I have said the engine runs really well and has a ton of power. This car is fast. The engine also has a mild but lopy street cam that gives the car a really nice rumble even with the stock exhaust (I do not know the specs), an Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold, Edelbrock Valve Covers, and a Quadrajet Carburetor on it. I have the original Vin Tag created for the engine by summit, and the engine casting is also stamped with the Summit insignia. The transmission is the original TH-350 which shifts smoothly through all gears. The Interior The interior on this vehicle is about a 6-7 out of 10. The interior is Ivory; a very nice color combination of this year. The drivers seat is in good condition but has a small one inch separation at one of the seams; easily repairable by a leather shop. The passenger seat has no rips or tears, and is in good condition. Both seats could use a good cleaning. The carpet is faded and in need of replacement. The door panels are worn and could use refurbishing. The steering wheel is in surprisingly good condition as is the center console and dash. Rims, Tires & Brakes The rims are 9 out of 10 for being original rims on a 30 year old car. The rims are actually in really nice condition. One or two of them have a couple of water stains on them that didn’t come off, but I haven’t really spent any time polishing them. I just cleaned them for the photos and that was pretty much it. You can see in the pictures they look really good and have a lot of potential. The tires have about 35% Tread all the way around. The brakes suck and I could not recommend driving the car without replacing them first. As you can see this a project car that does need some work but it has a lot of potential. The headlights work flawlessly which is unusual for C3 Corvettes, as do the windows. The A/C system is still intact although it needs to be recharged. This could be a great summer cruiser with some work. I purchased this car a while ago with the intent of repainting it, cleaning it, and driving it. Unfortunately I have other obligations at this point and not enough funds for all of them so this cool toy has got to go. I have tried to the best of my ability to describe this car as accurately as possible, but bear in mind this is a 30 year old car, and it is being listed and priced well below the current market value. Please see my feedback, I have 100% and have sold two cars with two very satisfied customers in the past two years. I encourage you if you are seriously interested to take a moment and come and see this car in person before the close of the auction. Either way for the price I doubt your going to find anything better. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. I have also included a video of the vehicle running and the headlights operating. Please excuse the poor audio quality. Vehicle is available for local pickup and for sale locally. I reserve the right to close the auction at anytime. A $250 non-refundable deposit is due at the close of the auction and the balance is due within 7 days. If the high bidder chooses to ship the vehicle that is alright, however the high bidder is responsible for making all arrangements necessary to do so. I will assist the high bidder in shipping the vehicle but again it is up to the buyer to make all the arrangements. Vehicle is sold as is, no implied warranties. I encourage you to come and take a look at the vehicle prior to bidding. I have tired to the best of my ability to accurately describe this vehicle, however please keep in mind this car is over 30 years old and being sold well under value. This is a project car you can drive with some work. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!!
