Vehicle Detail
This low-mileage, original condition 1981 Lincoln Mark IV is owned by the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, a non-profit Museum dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of transportation history. The car was donated to the Museum several years ago and has been exhibited. Up until its donation it was a one-family owned vehicle. The car was recently removed from storage for photography for this listing. It started almost immediately after receiving a battery and fresh gas. It is a nice original car that runs well and has no major mechanical issues or other significant defects. It is a collector caliber car with low mileage, known provenance and most of its original paperwork. It is offered to the highest bidder with a low opening bid and a very reasonable reserve. All proceeds benefit the Museum. The car is not for sale outside of eBay and the auction will not be ended early. VIN: 1MRBP95F4BY622432 1 = Manufacturer (Lincoln) MR = Continental (Mark) B = Restraint System P95 = Body Type (Two-Door Mark VI) F = Engine Type (302 V8) 4 = “check digit” B = Model Year (1981) Y = Assembly Plant (Wixom, MI) Final digits = sequential number beginning with 600001 According to the Standard Catalog of American Cars, Lincoln built a total of 34,210 Mark VI sedans in 1981, which was down about 10,000 units from 1980. This example was given to the Museum by its original owner. It comes complete with the factory window sticker, indicating a new price of $17,732.00. It also has the majority of its factory supplied literature, as shown in one of the accompanying photographs. The car was driven early in its life but has only accumulated 17,815 miles. It has obviously spent a great deal of its time protected in secure storage. It shows little wear or damage to its paint or interior. The underside has very light surface rust on the suspension, typical for a 30 year old vehicle that has seen some driving time. It is not a pampered show car nor has it been restored. It is a well-preserved original that remains basically as delivered from the factory/dealership. The only known non-original part on the car the car is the battery. We have recently driven this car and almost everything checks out as it should. The car is equipped with the optional twin comfort 6-way power seat, which is fully functional. The trip function equipment, power windows, etc. all seem to work fine. The only non-operational items are the air conditioning which does not blow cold and the power antennae, which will not activate. The trunk opens and closes properly, but does not stay up as its replaceable piston style shocks or struts have deteriorated from non-use. As far as we know, everything else on the car is functioning as it should. If you have a question about something specific, please ask and we will double check it for you before you place your bid. Cosmetically, the car is also very nice. There is no rust on the body, including the underside of the doors and inside the trunk. There are also no dents. The paint is very nice and retains its original shine. There are a few small chips on the front of the car and a small scratch behind the driver’s side door. These are the only paint flaws of note. The white vinyl top is clean and damage free. There is a small area where the seam has been resealed above the driver’s side door. There is also a minor gauge to the window vent frame. An uninstalled replacement piece is in the car’s trunk for the new owner to install if desired. Both of these small imperfections are shown in the included photos. The plush cloth interior is like new and has no flaws to list. All in all, this is a very nice original example of the Mark VI series and it will make its new owner very happy. The car is accurately represented in the photographs, but interested parties are encouraged to ask questions and/or schedule a personal inspection. This vehicle is offered as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. It has a valid Pennsylvania title which will be transferred to the new owner upon successful completion of the transaction. Shipping and transportation of the Lincoln will be the responsibility of the new owner. We will gladly work with you or the shipper/transporter of your choice to coordinate the move. The new owner will have two weeks from the completion of the auction to pick up the vehicle unless other arrangements are made in advance. The car is located at the AACA Museum, 161 Museum Drive, Hershey, PA 17033. Payment may be in the form of cash, money order, cashier’s/bank check or electronically transferred funds.
