Vehicle Detail
I am selling the oldest of my 3 Porsche 911 cars. This car is a nice 1970 model year Porsche 911T non-sunroof coupe. It has a clean/clear Arizona title ready to transfer to the new buyer. The title says 1969 because the car was first sold in 1969 even though it is a 1970 model year 911 with a manufacture date of 11/69. This car only has 39,930 original miles because it was owned since new by a wealthy Mexican family in Juarez, Mexico across the border from El Paso, Texas. This is a hot and dry climate region which has helped to preserve this car in better than average condition. This car was not driven much over the years because it appears to be a mostly Sunday driven recreational car. A friend of mine made the comment to me that it was probably used as a drug runner car in the 1970's because it has been upgraded to a more powerful MFI mechanical fuel injected engine and 5-speed transmission with engine serial number 6124351, but I think he made the comment because he may think that all rich Mexican's must be connected to drug trafficking, which I think is false. But this car did came to me after it was confiscated by the Mexican government from its original owner because he had gotten into trouble with the government. I was originally thinking about converting this car into a Carrera RS, but I have decided to sell this car now because my recent home move has down sized my garage space from 2000 square feet to only 600 square feet and I do not have room to keep all of my cars. This car has a very nice looking interior with like new looking seat upholstery and carpets. The carpets are black and the seats are black with white and black pattern center sections. There are no holes or tears in the upholstery or headliner. The dash pad has several cracks near the center and the windshield has a crack near the top center. The passenger foot well area has a small metal patch that covers a rust spot in the floor, so I can not claim it to be rust free, but there are very few original 911 cars that are truly rust free if you look close enough. The car was repainted several years ago using the original color Silver paint that is still very shinny, but there are flaws that are not able to be seen in the photos. The car has had the rear bumper updated to a later Porsche reflector style bumper as was common to do back in the 1980’s to make the car look like a newer style model. I have owned the car for the past 2 years and I have not driven it very much. When I purchased the car, I installed new tires that now have less than 50 miles on them. The wheels are the original Fuch alloy wheels. There is no spare. Batteries will have to be installed to be able to drive the car. It is a dual 6 volt battery version setup. I used a single 12 volt battery when I drove it. I have about 30 higher quality photos of the car. If you send me your email address with your name and phone number, then I will email you a link to the photos. If you have any questions, please call me at 480-219-0900 and leave a message if I do not answer. I don’t know how much this car is worth. I’m guessing it is worth somewhere between $10K-$20K. If less than that, then I won’t sell it. If more than that, then it will be great news to me. I believe in the auction process to set the true value of a collectable car like this one. So email me to get the photos, check them out, and then bid what you think it is worth. The winning bidder must pay a non-refundable $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of the auction end or I will sell it to the second highest bidder. The balance of the winning bid is due within 7 days. The buyer is responsible for any shipping arrangements and associated fees. World-wide shipping can be arranged for this car. The car will only be released to the buyer and/or shipping company after payment clears my bank account. The car is located in Mesa, AZ 85204. This is a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. On Dec-15-10 at 09:42:22 PST, seller added the following information:I am no expert on these early 911 Porche cars. Some more knowledgable experts have given me more information about my car that I am now adding to the auction description for everyone to read. The body tag shows a paint code of 1818-L. I did not know what color the code meant, but I have been told that this code is for Albert Blue and "L" is for the paint manufacturer Lesonal. In my original auction description I said that the car was repainted, and with this new information, it appears that the color was also changed to Silver. The Silver repaint covers the original color so well that I was fooled into believing that Siler was the original color for the car because I have never seen any blue on the car. I have also been told that the engine serial number is from the date range for 1972. This indicates that the engine is not the original engine, but it was suggested that the engine may have been replaced in 1972 under warranty. I have been told that Porsche had problems with engines in the early 911T cars that caused them to perform some warranty replacements after they fixed the problem on the production engines. The transmission shift lever shows the 1st gear to the left and back, and 5th gear is to the right and back. I was told that this is normal for the 1970 911T, so maybe only the engine was replaced. I had at first thought that the engine had been replaced to upgrade its power to the more powerful 1972 2.4 liter MFI 140hp engine, but the warranty replacement theory also sounds to be a very good reason for the engine replacement.
