Vehicle Detail

Super classic 1971 MG B Convertible roadester. This is an authentic, original Calfiornia MGB since sold new at British Motorcars in San Francisco. It has 30K original miles, and its mechanical condition reflects it. 4 spd manual transmission. This MG is completely stock. It is a two-owner roadster, owned since 1986 by the same family. It was part of a property Estate, and it had been in dry storage for the last 18 years. We had it inspected and fully serviced in order to make it roadworthy. It runs GREAT. Always starts without hesitation, and it is fairly fast. It has the stock dual SU carburetors, perfectly synchronized. The car has dual LYNX air intakes, but I do have the original airboxes and air cleaner assemblies as well, which will be included. The car is an original 4 spd manual transmission model, with the transmission in excellent condition as expected. It shifts well into all forward and reverse gears, with no slippage, chatter, grind or lag of any kind. The engine holds excellent water temp at about 1/3 of the temp reading. It maintains full oil pressure of 50 PSI at 2500 RPMs ( including driving it on the freeway, AND after extensive driving; I drove it from Gilroy to SF for about 2 hrs nonstop without missing a beat), and 25 PSI at idle. Extensive service records, including engine work in the late 1980s. The car has very good radial tires ( with at least 80% thread) mounted on its original MG wheels. It also has the optional rear luggage rack, firmly mounted and not wobbly. This MGB roadster is very solid, with excellent floors, chassis and trunk. NO undercarriage rust; no perforation on the doors, fenders, quarter panels, rockers, door sills, trunk, trunklid, trunk floor, engine bay or hood. Original amber color with nice, clean black leatherette. Original finish. The hood seems to have been repainted in the past, other than that, it is original throughout. It has a clear California title, with the registration having been kept up despite the car having been stored. It is current through 2011. Smog exempt of course. The MG is all-original, unrestored and unmolested classic. The convertible top is in very good condition, with NO rips or mends on the material. All windows are clear and not foggy. The car is listed with a modest reserve, and MUCH LOWER than any comparably priced MGBs listed here. Payment is to be received within FIVE days of the auction's end, please. I will be glad to assist or arrange transportation/ shipping of the MGB to anywhere nationwide or overseas. Preferred instrument of payment can be a bank wire transfer, to my local CHASE Bank branch in San Mateo. I will also accept a cashiers or Money orders for payment ( subject to verification by CHASE Bank). Personal, business or C.C checks may also be accepted, but must clear funds first, PRIOR to any transportation arrangements being made. Finally, Paypal is also an alternative if previously arranged prior to the end of the auction. Feel free to EM or call with questions (650) 931-5550. Thank you for your interest.
