I HAVE HAD TO RELIST THIS BECAUSE EBAY IS HAVING TECHNICAL PROBLEMS AND SCREWED IT UP ! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? When was the last time you saw one of these for sale on Ebay? Probably never as it is reputed to be one of only 5 known. The gentleman I purchased this car from bought it circa 1954 and unfortunately only recently began restoration and ran out of steam at the age of 90. I have known the owner and the car for almost 40 years myself The car is a good original with never any serious rust and excellent solid wood . The doors still close with an authoritative "thunk" sound . The bumpers , grill and a few other items have been rechromed. The body has been painted an attractive 2 tone burgundy and black. The running boards have been refurbished. The gas tank has been removed and cleaned and reinstalled. A new exhaust has been installed. The interior has been redone in lovely grey cloth over the original down filled "pillows" ( This WAS a luxury car!) Wheels have been powder coated and new Firestone white walls installed. I just purchased 2 identical new tires at Hershey from Coker for the dual sidemounts. One of the gentleman's sons told me that the engine sump was removed and the crank and bearings all checked out as excellent. I have not verified this but believe it to be true as the sump is in mint condition with new bolts and paint. The rumble seat has been recovered in what looks like a tan leatherette. I have not tried to start the engine but it rolls over with the hand crank very smoothly and was never seized. The engine is a 358 cubic inch 9 main bearing work of art. The car itself is significant as it was designed by Amos Northup of Murray as the first American car to be designed with the aid of a wind tunnel. This resulted in a "veed" radiator, and rolled fenders etc. I can tell you that every single person who has seen this car in my shop, gearhead or not comment to no end on it's beauty. The main items requiring attention are the brakes and the dash needs woodgraining. The fender lights are missing but I have part of one base. The headlights and tail lights are there and in fair condition. One sidemount cover is missing but one is there as a pattern. The sidemount locks are missing . All of the needed brake parts are available brand new from a supplier in Michigan. If you want to chat at more length and ask questions as there is lots to tell please give me a call at 613-273-5036. PAYMENT WILL BE BY BANK TRANSFER PURCHASER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING COST PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS CAR DOES NEED WORK BUT THE CHANCE TO BUY ANOTHER LIKE IT AT A REASONABLE PRICE MAY BE SOON COMING TO AN END AS 2 CONVERTIBLE COUPES SOLD THIS YEAR FOR 200K + On Nov-27-10 at 08:16:48 PST, seller added the following information: I HAVE LISTED THIS AUCTION TWICE AND EVEN THOUGH I HAVE PAID FOR LARGE PICTURES EBAY CAN'T DELIVER.
