Vehicle Detail
Thank you for checking out my classic car! Up for auction I have my '63 Olds Dynamic 88 4 door sedan. I really like this car, and it's very clean, but it just sits as I don't have a garage to work on it. Looking to find it a good home. The car is in great condition and runs very well. It's possible it has had some reconditioning done to it, but I don't know for sure. There does appear to be some bondo spots upon closer inspection. I was told when I bought it that the engine had been rebuilt not long ago. The body is VERY straight with very little rust. There is a little bit of cancer spots in the doors and I think a spot or 2 in the quarters. All the original trim is in place and in good shape. The rear trim panel under the trunklid does have a slight dent in it. All the glass is great with no cracks or chips. The passenger windows and rear window have bad tint on them. Paint is sun bleached on the driver side and top, definately needs paint. This car started life in the east I believe, but spent most of it in Arizona. The mileage is not accurate, but 133k doesnt sound absurd. It is registered in CA, and I have the clean title in hand. The car is very roadworthy, and I drove it daily for a short time with no problems. I do have some paperwork and literature to go with it. The car lists on NADA for $5K low book (eh what?), and around $2k for condition 3-4 on Collector Car Market Review. It runs very good, and is quiet...no clatter, no tapping. Exhaust may have some small leaks. It is sadly the low compression 394. I rebuilt the 2 bbl carb, but it still has problems. Choke doesn't work right and the accelerator pump doesn't work. Takes a while to start due to that, and if the throttle is touched beforehand, it will high idle way too high til it's warm. I opened it back up and dinked with it, but still doesn't work. Seems to run rich as well. Easy fix. Transmission works as well as a "Slim Jim" can, shifts fine. Has aftermarket or dealer optioned Air Conditioning (under dash unit) that doesn't work (but the fan blows). It has a couple electrical hiccups. Heat now works, but can't be turned off or adjusted. I think that may be a vacuum line problem. Wipers don't work, and it seems the switch is bad (it has shocked me). Turn signals are hit or miss, I think it's the cam unit in the steering column. Otherwise all the lights work except the dash lights which recently decided to fail. The biggest problem with the car it the fuel tank. The original had a huge rusted out hole (or 3). I put in a new fuel line and I currently have a boat fuel tank in the trunk (yes it's vented outside). It's 10 gallons and doesnt get you very far at roughly 10 mpg. I still have the original tank, but it's out of the car. It might be able to be repaired, but it's pretty bad. I haven't been able to find a replacement, but perhaps an Impala or Bel Air tank might work, or even a Buick/Pontiac. It is mounted behind the rear axle, not under the trunk like most of these cars. The interior is nice, clean, and tear free. However, it is not original. It's a well done velour. The carpet and headliner are great, though I'm unsure of originality. Dash has a couple cracks. Door panels are good and possibly restorable originals. All the weather stripping has been cooked by the Arizona heat and needs to be replaced. Has an aftermarket radio that works ok, but the dash hasn't been hacked to accomodate it. All windows work smoothly and it has those wonderful crank wind wings, doors could use some lube, but open and close solid. Trunk and hood, likewise. It is coil springs all around with rear 4 link and perimeter frame, just like the Impalas. It has posi from the factory, called "Anti-Spin". Looks like an Eaton axle. Drum brakes all around. Front sway bar. 394 V-8 with 2 bbl, and 3 speed automatic. Power steering, power brakes...manual everything else. Things I have done since I bought it over a year ago- The brake system was completely disfunctional. I replaced the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and most of the steel lines as well as the rubber lines. The shoes and drums were fair, so I left them. The brakes work great now. New plug wires and spark plugs. As I recall, the cap and rotor looked good. New fuel line engine to rear (rubber). It had a coolant leak out of a hole in the front water pump/timing cover housing. Because of the scope of the repair, I JB Welded the hole. I know, totally ghetto, but it looks like a huge project as this housing acts as the front engine mount as well. It has been fine and leak free, but obviously it needs to be fixed right. I have a new (used) housing and gasket set included. I flushed the cooling system, and the "HOT" light has never come on. I know that may mean nothing, but it's never overheated either. Replaced the Battery cables, and the battery/alternator are good. Did a little troubleshooting with the tail lights and replaced a socket, they are good now. It is currently rolling on a set of beat up 15" Pontiac Rallys with good used tires (not pictured), but I have the set of nice original 14" wheels/hubcaps with bad tires (flat spots) that are included or I can swap them on if you don't want the Rallys. This is a great car, and a cool Impala alternative. I personally like the idea of fixing up cars that aren't mainstream. That aside, I believe some parts do interchange with the Impalas, but don't quote me on that. Would be a great Rat Rod, lowrider, or a good start for a restoration. You don't see many (if any) of these, especially in this condition. I know I will regret selling this, but I can't do what I want with it right now, and I don't want to watch it rot. If you like, I will include a Repair manual on CD-rom, and a CD of web pages with Olds info that I have saved. I also have a cast iron 4 bbl manifold for it, that I will throw in with the "Buy it now" option, but i am not completely sure if it's compatible as the blocks got a little ambiguous in those years. I *think* it came off a '59. All the pictures are from when I first got it, and some from the original ad, but it is in the exact same condition aside from the wheels and a few more miles...oh, and it runs, and stops, unlike when I got it. I put a few hundred in to it, and a few hundred more in relocating it twice. So I'm taking a loss like almost every other hot rot project out there. I am open to trades, but I am a little picky on what I want, and I don't want a backwards trade. I will need to see the vehicle prior to any agreement, so don't assume you can swap your trashed 83 BMW and 200 bucks, and just throw a bid out there. I want a truck or an SUV that can go topless (old 4 Runner or Scout). I am very open to what's out there, but I DO NOT want any newer (70's up) Fords/Chevys, Mazdas, Isuzus, Mitsubishis, cars, or crap. Any full size truck will need to be 1966 or older (unless it's a Dodge), a short bed, and I'd prefer a straight 6 engine. I'm really digging Datsuns/Nissans 1970-1986. Extended cab 4x4 a plus. I like Scouts. Just about any Jeep truck. Toyotas. Even an old rat rod project that's been abandoned. My stipulations are that the truck RUNS AND DRIVES GOOD, and is in good shape. Diesels are a plus (not GM's). Minor cheap repairs to make it go or stop (brakes, alternators, etc.) might be ok. Just message me what you have, and we'll talk. Perfect trade? A 1980's Datsun 720 with the L20B or SD22 Diesel, Kingcab, 4x4, plus a good washer/dryer, and 200 cash... fat chance huh? Not sure how to work trades with ebay, but I imagine if you throw down the $200 deposit, and we swap, we just call it "paid", and all is well. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS IS, WITH NO WARRANTIES, AND WILL NOT BE SHIPPED. I am willing to drive it within 100 miles if you pay for fuel and weather permitting (no wipers). Due to the trade option, and it being advertised locally as well, I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. RELISTED DUE TO A FALSE BUYOUT! NO OUT OF COUNTRY BIDS!
