Selling a super clean '65 Bug, older restoration but garaged since (about 5 years). All new rubber and welting installed during paint cycle. Completely rebuilt and balanced dual port 1600 added for more power and dependability. It can now drive a freeway speeds, go up hill with plenty of power and runs on unleaded gas. Also an external oil cleaner was added to make the engine run longer. Converted to 12 volt. Very dependable and purrs like a kitten. The car was stripped down and gone through on a rust free body and pan original car. The Calif. black license plates indicate that it has never left California. There are a couple little paint dings, but they were spotted right away. These are the original plates put on in 1965. I found the car through a friend as his Dad, an Air Force engineer at Vandenberg Air Force base had gone through the car and it was his prize and joy. The son and his mother had to sell the bug as "Pops" has been diagnosed with the beginning of Alsheimer desease. They just wanted it removed so he wouldn't be tempted to drive his little prize. I paid dearly for the car because it is so clean. I bought it for my wife as I couldn't find a clean enough Karmann Ghia. As luck would have it, not too long later I ran in to a super nice Karmann. So I am selling the bug. She can't have both! Even now with both in our garage she waivers back and forth on which one to keep. But our loss is your gain. I have a very fair reserve price as I don't want to dilly dally waiting for big bucks, although it's worth what others would ask $10,000. for. There are absolutely no mechanical problems. It has new tires and brakes. Everything works. As you can see it has never had a radio and the dash is not molested. Fly in and drive home or ship. Oh yeah, I guess I need to say "as is" too, but what a nice car! On Nov-11-10 at 17:13:25 PST, seller added the following information: As requested I took pictures of the motor and under the hood. Note the newer motor complete with an alternator and rid of the undependable generator. I did my best laying on the ground and trying to take pictures underneath. There is absolutely zero rust under there. As a matter of fact most of the original undercoating is there doing it's job. Like I said before this car has always been in sunny Calif. and away from the coast. No leaks, no squeaks, not rattles and it is air tight as it should be. By the way the heater works better than any V.W. I've ever rode in. You will not find one any straighter or rust free than this one. I'm almost talking myself in to keeping it! Any other pictures?
