Vehicle Detail
Stylish 1967 Volvo P1800 Coupe with beautiful body lines, rock solid California floors, great color combination. I purchased this car three weeks ago from elderly man in Walnut Creek, California. He had owned the car for 21 years, and he took good care of it. He kept on top of its mechanical maintainence and purchased new parts for it often. It runs well, the brakes are good, the exhaust system is solid, and the tires are good. The paint is near perfect, with no scratches or road blemishes, and body gaps on the car are excellent. He never did anything to the interior, and some simple attention there would finish this car out nicely. The dash has cracks, and the front seats are original and worn, with splits in the seams. The floors on this car appear solid and original, as good as you are likely to find anywhere. The chrome and bumpers are all in good to excellent shape, no noticeable pitting. All in all, a good driver with exceptional style. The wheels are not stock, but I think they fit the car well. I go through a great many valuable classic cars: Porsche 356 and early 911 models, Jaguar xke and xk models, Mercedes 190sl and Pagoda models, and the classic design of the P1800 is on par with these more expensive cars. It is growing in popularity, and the long-run values of these will likely increase significantly. That's speculation, but the style of this car speaks for itself. The P1800 model was not produced past 1965. I found the following information on the Wikipedia: "1800s As time progressed, Jensen had problems with quality control, so the contract was ended early at 6,000 cars. In 1963 production was moved to Volvo's Lundby Plant in Gothenburg and the car's name was changed to 1800S (the 'S' indicating Swedish assembly). The engine was improved with an additional 8 hp (6 kW). In 1966 the four-cylinder engine was updated to 115 hp (86 kW). Top speed was 175 km/h (109 mph).[3] In 1969 the B18 engine was replaced with the 2-liter B20B variant of the B20 giving 118 bhp (89 kW), though it kept the designation 1800S."
