Vehicle Detail

2000 Honda S2000 I have been the owner of this car for the last 2 years or so and I will tell you that it is one of the cleanest s2000's you will ever find, and by far the most fun car to drive that I have ever owned. It was meticulously maintained, it was washed and waxed almost weekly, always used Mobil 1 or MOTUL motor oil, and MOTUL trans fluid, and diff fluids. The car has never seen salt and was always stored in the winter. The soft top has no rips in it and has been treated with Raggtop. There are the standard rock chips on the front bumper, but otherwise in great condition and gets compliments all the time. The car just passed full inspection in July. The Bad: The car was recently involved in a small flooding of a parking lot where it was parked (10-2). There was around 10 inches of water, which was enough to get into the interior and soak the carpets and seats. The insurance declared the car a total loss, and it now has a salvage title. As I said, the water was not too deep, and everything on the car still works fine. I took the car afterward to a good friend of mine at a performance and tuning shop in Lansdale PA where he spend almost 2 hours going over the car. ( I have the receipt) He changed all the fluids and checked them for water, which he found nothing, inspected the whole underside of the car, suspension, brakes, checked wire connectors that were lower in the car for corrosion and found nothing, checked all lights, gauges, etc, etc... Basically the car has wet carpet and wet seat damage. I took the seats out of the car to dry, and dried the carpet out as soon as I could and aired the car out on every nice day for the next couple weeks. The car is completely dry at this point and still runs, drives, shifts, and does everything fine, I drove it on (11-1). There is a small squeaking coming from the belt which im assuming is coming from a bearing on an idler pulley or something, this was starting to squeak before the water, but im assuming was accelerated if water got to it. The other problem is the interior smells from being wet for a few days. Ultimately if I were to keep the car, I would say it needs new carpet, new seats, and all the lower trim plastic, and door panels need to come off and be washed with soap and a disinfectant. Mechanically this car is sound, Cosmetically it still looks as good as ever, The interior just needs a little tlc, and the car needs to be inspected to have the title changed from salvage to rebuilt so that it can be registered again. I will give you the reciept from the inspection and fluid change, but otherwise there should be no reason it doesn't pass inspection as the only damage is smelly carpet and seats, I don't think there is a rule about that. Anyway, if you have any other questions please let me know. I am only selling this car because since this has happened, I have kind of lost interest in it, I know its a fairly easy fix to someone who has the time, and its a crazy fun car, and I will probably own another one myself one day as I'm sure I will regret selling this one, but I will always remember that night and that will bother me. I constantly get compliments everywhere I go from all kinds of people and this S2K really stands out from the rest, so my loss is your gain, and I want to make somebody a great deal on a car that still has a lot of life left in it. Contact me with any questions. On Nov-05-10 at 05:46:21 PDT, seller added the following information: I went out this morning and tried to take a couple extra pictures of the interior of the car as it sits right now. It had been raining all night, and it was fairly dark out this morning, so these may not be the best pictures but you get the idea. As you can see it is completely dry at this point, it just smells inside. There is a little surface mold on the drivers seat, but may be salvageable. I don't see any other signs of mold, but I would assume its growing in the carpet as well. This is why I believe that this car needs new carpet and seats and a good cleaning of the plastic and metal while the lower portion of the interior is disassembled. On Nov-05-10 at 06:30:06 PDT, seller added the following information: A couple more... On Nov-09-10 at 12:21:20 PST, seller added the following information: I have gotten a few questions whether or not the title is "salvage" or "junk." here is an image of the title stating that it is in fact a salvage, and it even shows the instructions on it on how to go about retitling the car with a rebuilt title. As I have also told some people, From the research I have done here in PA, the car needs to be inspected by an enhanced inspection station, and once it passes inspection, the cars title can be changed from salvage to rebuilt, and then it can be registered again and driven on the road. I guess the big things they look for is whether or not the car is safe to operate on the road, which it should be since it just passed inspection in July, and nothing has changed other than smelly interior, and that there are no stolen parts on the car, which there also are not as it is all stock other than the modifications listed above. If you have any further questions please let me know and I will try to answer them. Also, I may get questions on this, but I grew up in MI and that's where I originally got the car, as stated on the title.
