Vehicle Detail
1951 Hudson Pacemaker, hot-rod custom This is an absolute auction for my pride and joy. This car will go to the highest bidder. For sale is my 1951 Hudson Pacemaker, Hot Rod Custom car. This car gets looks and attention everywhere you go. She is a real beauty. I will give the most honest description of the car I can. Please do not bid if you do not want the car. I will answer any questions you may have about the car. I am selling the car for two reasons. One, because where I now live I do not have access to a full functional garage and must now outsource all my work and two, I am nearing retirement and will be downsizing and will not have the space. Since I do love this car I will only let it go for the right offer, I have over 20K invested. The car has not seen rain since I have owned it. I have included many photos. Since I do not have access to a lift I cannot send photos of bottom of the car. This is not a concourse quality car but it has won local shows and would not take a lot to move it to the next level. Description: Body: This car was bought by me about 3 years ago. It had already had the body customized with a 3 inch chop to the roof, Frenched Headlights and Tail lights and shaved door handles. I looked for a car like this for years. It has the straightest most solid body I have seen on a 60 year old car. The car came from Washington State and the previous owner had it for a long time. It has a visor, dummy spotlights and louvered hood. The paint was done about one year ago. The color is Spiral Grey which is a modern Corvette color which looks metallic grey in some light and almost black in other. It is a base coat clear coat job and is very nice and done by Jester Custom Painting in St. Marks, Fl. The trunk is unfinished and does have a small hole(less than a dime in size) I have included a photo, which looks like it was part of an old repair. This hole sits over top of the fuel cell whose filler is in the trunk. Interior: The interior is an older restoration. The seats are done in a coffin pattern and are covered in a dark red which matches the carpet, headliner, door panels and kick panels. If I were to keep the car this would be my next project(at least the carpet some hush mat underneath and kick panels ) . It looks to me as if the seats came out of a 70’s or 80’s Olds or Buick. The front seat is a power seat. The car is not air conditioned. Some of the chrome (A pillar and window trim)could use polishing. The dash is factory but I do have a tachometer in the place of the clock, the factory fuel gauge and speedometer does work. There is a modern radio which works but needs new speakers and there is a CD player in the glove box which does not ( I prefer the sound of the car). There is an aftermarket gauge cluster below the dash and they all work except the clock. The steering wheel is custom and does tilt. Engine: The engine started life as a GM 454, 4 bolt main, High Performance Engine. It has gone through a total rebuild less than 500 miles ago( I have receipts) and now is 468 cubic inches . Doug Herbert Performance Parts were matched to make this a nice roller, torque monster, topped with a Holley 870 Street Avenger. The computer print out on this engine show max horsepower at 459 @ 4500 rpm and max torque at 592 ft.;bs.@2500 rpm. MSD ignition and coil. Exhaust custom headers through Blue Streak Mufflers. Over 5K invested in the engine alone. Transmission: 1970’s vintage, GM turbo 400. Rear: Ford, 8 inch. Drum Brakes. I am not sure of the gears but they are great highway gears. Front: 1970’s Vintage GM. Front Disc brakes. Tires: New, Less Than 500 miles. Misc: In the last two years the car has also had new shocks, wire, plugs, fluids (all). The car has been converted to 12 volt. The lights, turn signals, and wipers all work. The car is a blast to drive and I would take it anywhere. The engine runs nice and cool and has proven to be reliable. I have a Battery tender lead accessible through the grill and a battery cut off switch also located behind the grill. The car has power steering and brakes. I have installed a brand new set of Poppers for the doors and trunk and have back up manual release cables for all. Please bid with confidence. I have not sold anything on ebay for a while but if you look at my history you will see only positive feedbacks. I encourage you to have the car inspected before you bid. Feel free to call with any questions. My daytime number during the week is 850-528-1716 and my night and weekend number is 850-692-3367, ask for Roy. No calls after 10pm eastern standard time please. If I do not answer leave a message and I will return your call. Payment must be in cash or certified funds. All checks will be cleared by my bank before the vehicle leaves my home. I possess a free and clear Florida title for the car. I might consider a Jeep Wrangler in nice shape as a partial trade. The buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping of the vehicle. I am willing to help coordinate. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. I received an email from someone who says they believe the roof has not been chopped. I have owned another stock pacemaker and this roof seems lower to me. The previous owner told me three inches had been taken out of the roof so i believed him. I am not an expert and advise anyone to whom this is an issue to have the car inspected before they bid.
