1997 Saturn Wagon SW1 Automatic 32 MPG We purchased this vehicle for a company employee who is no longer with us. We are describing the vehicle as accurately as possible so there are no misunderstandings about what we know about this vehicle. Overall this should be a decent vehicle for basic transportation with terrific fuel economy (30 - 32 mpg highway; actual). Body: Hunter Green 4 Door Wagon with lift up rear hatch. The condition of this body is what you would expect for a 1997 car. The paint is all good and looks very clean. In the pictures the car was just washed so it may appear to have water running down it because it does. Engine: 1.9 Liter EFI/Over Head Cam. No known defects. Starts right up. Runs like a champ. This has been sitting in our parking lot for about 7 months so I would expect it needs to run a little. Transmission: Automatic with no know defects. Shifts smooth. Rides like a champ. Brakes: Front Brakes are Brand New. Rears will need replacing. Battery: New one year ago. I expect it to give you reliable service. Wipers: All 3 wipers (front and rear) work perfectly. Glass: All the glass looks good without any know flaws. Stereo: I love this Pioneer AM FM CD Stereo with Super Tuner 50w x 4 system. If I knew how I would have taken it out and put it in my car. Lights: All work perfectly. Horn: Works perfectly. Interior: Seems to be in decent shape. All the seats and seat belts function properly. Every car can always use a good cleaning. Tires: The rear will need to be replaced right away. I would also suggest changing the front. We observed dry rot from sitting in our lot so we do not have confidence in them. We suggest you do not drive this car any long distance without replacing the tires. Mileage: The odometer reads 94,681 but NJ Motor Vehicle Services says this car has 164,750. Issues: The oxygen sensor needs to be replaced along with the check engine lamp according to the NJ inspection facility. We suspect when the check engine light was ignored then it stayed lit until it burned out. The driver's side rear outside plastic door handle broke off inside the door and will need to be replaced for it to operate again. The inside handle work great. Apparently this car was in an accident that was not reported to insurance. The front passenger side door was replaced with another hunter green door that matches great. The rear passenger side door does not close perfectly because when the car was hit the door post bent and was straightened so the door is a little off near the top. There are no safety concerns only an alignment issue (see the picture). The passenger side mirror housing has some chips broken off (no performance issues). There are 3 long scratches on the passenger side doors. It looks like someone keyed the car or drove along a sharp object. The hood has a dent or two from a tree branch landing on it during a wind storm(see the picture). The interior headliner is sagging a little in the front where someone tried to unsuccessfully scrub a soda stain. The rear drivers side hub cap has a chunk of plastic taken out of it but, remains functional. Because these are screwed onto the wheel lugs there is no risk of losing the hub cap. I tried to list every thing I know is wrong with this vehicle so there are no surprises. If I missed something I am sorry. If you have any other questions please feel free to email me.
