THIS CAR IS OFFERED FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER WITH A VERY REASONABLE RESERVE. PLEASE DON’T WRECK MY AUCTION BY BIDDING IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO BUY Please wait for the photos to load and read the entire description. Feel free to phone or e-mail if you need more information, contact info is at the bottom. Thank you. Offered for sale with a low reserve is this stunning hot rod “Goldeez 1940 Ford”, an all steel Ford deluxe two door sedan, the last car built by the legendary customizer Bill Cushenbery before his death in 1998. It has been garaged and meticulously maintained as part of a well known West Coast collection for the past eight years, has less than 5000 miles on the odometer, and is in perfect condition. The owner is reducing his collection, and has asked me to sell the car for him. The reserve is a small fraction of what it would cost to build the car today - it will represent an outstanding value for the high bidder. Please bid with confidence - I have been selling collector cars on eBay for OVER TEN YEARS. HISTORY: This marvelous car was built in the late 1990s in Bakersfield by Bill Cushenbery, who beginning in the 1960s achieved royalty status among the great car customizers along with the likes of George Barris, Darryl Starbird, the Alexander Brothers, and Gene Winfield. (to learn more about the legendary Bill Cushenbery please click HERE) The car was built for Bruce Goldsmith, who at the time was the owner of Goldeez Hot Rod Shop in Bakersfield, hence the name “Goldeez 1940 Ford.” Cushenbery started with a very clean low mileage and rust free 1940 Ford Deluxe Tudor Sedan that had been museum stored for many years. The build quality was the finest throughout and the finished product was breathtaking. After collecting a staggering amount of awards in the first two years of its life, the car passed to its second owner here in the SF Bay Area in late 1999. He kept the car garaged and in perfect condition until it came to its current owner in September of 2002 in a trade for a ‘32 roadster. The car has been very little used by this owner and has been in my garage with my collection of 1920s and 30s cars for the past three years, under the care of my personal mechanic. With the current sate of the economy the owner is obliged to reduce his collection and we offer it here at a great bargain, a true opportunity for any serious enthusiast or collector. EXTERIOR: The body of this car is flawless and the photos don’t do justice to Cushenbery’s paint job which is spectacular - House of Kolor Candy Apple red over a black base which creates an incredible depth. The wheels are Halibrand knock-offs and the bumpers are Rock Valley polished stainless steel, as is the gas tank. Exhaust components are by Stainless Specialties. INTERIOR: The stunning interior is by Ron Mangus, with luxurious tan leather covering every surface with the exception of the headliner and carpet. It’s absolutely flawless and executed to the highest possible standard. The leather tilt steering wheel is by Lecarra USA with Ididt chrome steering column. Windows are by Specialty Power Windows and power operate via the vintage style crank handles. The car is equipped with thermostatically controlled heat and air conditioning by Vintage Air which is operated by electronic control panel mounted in the glovebox. The car has a powerful Kenwood audio system with dash mounted control and a ten disc CD changer in the trunk. All gauges are by Classic Instruments. ENGINE & CHASSIS: Street & Performance Corvette LT4 350 motor Street & Performance 4L-60 O/D automatic transmission with Lokar floor shift Special Project by Custom Works TCI frame with TCI independent front suspension Concours West Industries (CWI) Jaguar independent rear suspension 4 wheel disc brakes by Wildwood Engineering Ron Francis wiring Lokar control cables Borgeson U-Joints Stainless Specialties exhaust system Griffin aluminum radiator CONDITION: This car has traveled only 4875 miles since it was built, and has always been garaged and carefully maintained. It is in perfect condition. AWARDS: The car has not been shown since the 1990s but in those early years of its life it amassed these awards, among others: First in Class,1999 Grand National Roadster Show First in Class, 1999 Portland Rod and Custom Show Rodders Rep Pick, 1998 Goodguys Southwest Nationals Eagle One Award, 1998 Goodguys Colorado Classic Honoree, Darryl Starbird’s Hall of Fame 1997 First in Class, Crusin’ Paso Robles 1997 VALUE: This is a one time opportunity to own a car built by one of the legends of hot rodding. Such cars are rarely offered but this one must be sold right away so the owner is willing to offer it at an exceptional value. This car needs nothing and is ready to drive anywhere, and will certainly be a highlight at any show or event. Hot rods and customs with this kind of provenance are rapidly appreciating in value, meaning the lucky new owner of this car will have a beautiful and important automobile that will provide great enjoyment and a blue chip investment for years to come.
