1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible Indy 500 Pace Car Here is a well documented ORIGINAL '65 Sport Fury Indy 500 Pace car convertible. Plymouth only built a handful of these cars that were chosen to represent and pace the Indianapolis 500 race in 1965. Indianapolis 500 "Officials" choose just one special car each year to pace the cars in the race and in 1965 they chose the Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible in White with a Blue top and two tone interior. Galen Govier has confirmed that the options and colors that have been decoded from the original fender tag and the original broadcast sheet on this car are correct for the Pace Car. He also confirmed that the build date for this car is prior to the Indianapolis 500 race in 1965 confirming that it recieved the official "INDY 500 PACE CAR" dash plaque and was one of the Pace Cars that was there at the track for the race in 1965. This car is in beautiful mostly original condition and has always been well kept. It had one repaint on a rust free southern body and the original engine was just completely rebuilt. The A/C blows cold and the car runs and drives fantastic! Again, this car is an original Indy Pace Car edition from 1965. The plaque on the dash is authentic and Galen Govier confirmed that this was one of the several cars that was actually at the track in 1965. It is a rust free beautiful original car.
