Vehicle Detail

Buyers with no feed back please email me prior to placing a bid Up for sale is a highly factory option, CA Black plate, 68 firebird convertible. The power plant in this car is the original 400 block that was rebuilt a short time ago. This bird still haves almost every original part still in working order unlike most Firebirds that are currently on the market. This is a true Muscle Car with power to spare. Now that Pontiac is no longer; it is truely becoming the muscle car to have. It has already doubled in value over the last 6 months check the NADA or any classic car Value guide. This original car was purchased from the second owner a few months back with the intension of completing yet another frame up restoration. He owned the car since the early 80’s and used it for Sunday drives and family fun. Last year he had the original engine rebuilt, swap the automatic Trans for a 4 speed Muncie, replaced the brakes, and had everything else serviced prior to giving the car to his daughter as a wedding gift (He keep the car in his name) and told her that when she was ready to buy a house she could sell the car. Her and her new husband put very little miles on the car it was parked in the garage and only driven a couple times a month. As we all know it’s the same story so I asked if I could take the car to my shop for a day to complete a full inspection. I tried to find any and all issues to help negotiate the purchase cost down. When I inspected the car everything function correctly from the old key buzzer to the power top. The compression on every cylinder was at 175psi, everything was original to the car except for the Radio, antenna, transmission, the HD Currie Posi Rear end, and adjustable traction bars. The paint job that is hiding the original Verdoro Green looks OK from 10 to 15 feet away but had a few very small area of lifting (checked entire car with my weak refrigerator magnet) I checked inside of the doors, fenders, body panel, trunk, engine compartment, and floor boards for any signs of body work or rust. The only problem besides some minor surface rust was a 2-3 inch cancer spot on the rear passenger floor board (center location) that needs repaired and the passenger door was not realigned correctly after the last paint job and a dent in the gas tank. For an additional $3500 and 4 weeks I can paint the car color of your choice or back to original. Will include strip down, Minior body work, metal glaze coat, PPG epoxy primer to seal, High Build primer and block sanding to get body perfect, PPG white base coat for uniform top color, your choice of color, 4 coats of clear (2 coats color sand, 2 additional coats and final cut and buff) would be a $8000+ job at a restoration shop. Factory options: • Factory power windows (passenger door switch needs to be replaced but the main switch and two rear switches works perfectly) • Factory power disc front / rear drum brakes (fluid looked very good, rotors, drums, and pads all look very good) • Factory power steering (fluid “trans” looked very good, hoses look good no leaks but they are original and old. The pump works perfect and the car turns effortless) • power top (The frame, and bows seem to be very solid, the pump works like new, no leaks, but the vinyl needs to be replaced)) • Factory AC car (missing compressor, dryer and brackets) all wiring, vents, ect still connected • Original matching numbers rebuilt 400 with a comp cam kit, I think its around a 11:1 compression. I add N.O.S octane booster to every other tank and only fill up with Chevron Supreme. Haven’t had it Dyno tested yet but I know its producing more than the original 330 HP. •Pontiac Performer Aluminum Intake (Have the original intake with the A.I.R. thermo switch and the choke heater box “Very good condition”) • New Holley street avenger 670 installed and tuned (I still have the Original Quadra jet 4 barrel Car very good condition.) • New chrome valve covers (I have the original valve covers needs to be rechromed but in very good condition) • Chrome aftermarket air cleaner and new filter (I have a Original Black Air Cleaner with chrome lid. Good condition lid needs to be rechromed) • Original Dual exhaust car with brand new (sounds really nice) Headman Hustler headers 3 inch collector and High Performance Mufflers. I have the original exhaust manifolds (excellent condition) but had the shop dispose of the original mufflers they were shot. • Original factory HD suspension (coil over up front and multi leaf with staggard shock mounted at the rear), Just installed new “correct to Era” Monro HD Sensa Trac shocks up front and rear but have the KY shocks (front and rear) that were on the car still in good condition • Was a automatic 400 car but the second owner completed a 4 speed conversion using a Muncie 4speed & Hurst Shifter (Car shifts smoothly and spins the tires effortlessly) • Cal Trac adjustable traction bars to complement the power and the Currie posi rear end • A brand new set of staggered custom wheels (I think they are 18x8 up front & 18x9 rear) I have the original rally wheels with GT qualifiers, the rally’s need to be repainted but the are straight and the tires hold air. • recent tune up, including HP 8mm wires, HP plugs, Proform HEI Dist. all work completed at the shop. I have the original ignition system (Distributor, new cap, new wires, coil, ect.) • Factory optional dual horns • New High Flow water pump, New 19.25” Flex lite fan and clutch, 3 row large HD Aluminum Radiator. I added an Aux. electric pusher fan with thermostat for additional summer cooling ( car maintains a steady idle temp between 185-195 ) I have the Original HD Radiator nothing wrong with it Just wanted an Aluminum Rad. • All interior is original, the front seats are just ok but the rest of the interior is in good condition • body ok condition needs new paint job (original color code is Verdoro Green) ). I have a replacement trunk lid because I damaged the original one when I jacked the car up with the original Bumper Jack. • Sound system(2 Fosgate P3 12" in a ported box, 1 Kicker mono 750.1, 1 Kicker 250.2, Tsunami 1 Fared Cap ,10 disc cd changer with wired remote • Chrome looks good needs to be polished. • glass is good Just installed a new 100 amp chrome alternator and zinc plated HD voltage regulator. For those bidders that prefer all original cars . I ran a parallel 6 gauge wire directly to the battery and since I was undoing the harness loom I also folded back the temp idiot light wires and straped them to the main harness just incase the new owner wants to reconnect all original equipment. The car with everything on (lights, music, fan, ect) is maintaining a 14v +or- charge The throttle response is amazing. This Firechicken has a lot of low end tourqe but still maintains a good amount of top end power. I did store the original alternator with all of the other original equipment I replaced. I have only added bolt on performance items and left all original wiring intact including the pink resistance ignition wire since my ownership. I do have a few wires that were already removed from previous owner like some of the center consol wires. The engine is very clean and it does not leak or burn oil I also Have a near new set of ProCar Race seats & seat tracks that were installed in the car when I purchased it. If you would like any other information or pics just ask Currie rear end information I found: The Housing alone was $1100 and I don't know the exact build options the last owner had installed but all said and done the rear end alone cost a few thousand dollars. http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/productsCR.aspx?id=2698&p=1099.9500 Part #: CE-GMF6769MX Price for Housing and Axles Only: $1,099.95 Description: Features the 9-Plus notch back heavy duty housing and 31 spline performance axle package built to the stock overall width and pinion offset specs. of the vehicle.
