Vehicle Detail

This truck is being relisted due to the fact that the winning bidder (a nice guy from Australia) ended up not being able to complete his importation process for this truck. After the individual had won the auction, he requested that I investigate some of the bubbled paint and mild rust in the roof pillar area. All the scaly rust was removed, primed, and repainted. There was some rust along the drip rails, which has also been resolved. While I was at it, because the paint on top of the truck was very oxidized, I repainted the roof. While these repairs do make the condition of the truck more solid and stable, unfortunately the roof and A-pillars are no longer in what I believe to be original paint like the rest of the vehicle. I have included some new photos reflecting the newly repaired and repainted areas. The remainder of the photos are from before this work was done. Everything else on the truck is precisely as it was during the previous listing. Presented for your bidding pleasure is a 1966 Dodge A100 pickup. I am selling this for a friend. He and I were fixing this up to be a really cool daily driver for him to cruise, but he has bills he must pay, so he must sell this truck. It seems everyone who drives past loves this truck! Due to its completeness, and good mechanical condition this A100 would be a great candidate for restoration. He has a clean California title in his name, and the truck has current non-op registration so there are no back-fees for the winner to pay. The good: The truck is wearing what I believe is the original red and white paint (except in the roof area, as described above). This truck has the quite rare corner windows (most were just solid sheet metal in the corners). All the glass is good, and the windows roll up and down freely. Usually the tailgates of these trucks are long gone, but this one still has the original one in place. The back of the cab is intact and free of modifications. The bed is very solid and has no weak, thin or rusted out spots in it. The frame rails, spring hangers, etc. are totally solid with no rust issues. The body is quite straight with good lines, even the rear roll pan beneath the aftermarket rear bumper is very nice! (please see photos) The truck has four original wheels and all four original matching hub-caps. Tires are fair and usable condition. The master cylinder is new and the brakes work well. This truck has an uncut dash, original shifter, steering wheel, and instrument cluster. All the electrical systems work, all lights, the heater fan, wipers etc. The taillight lenses are new. The gauges all work with the exception of the fuel and temp gauges (might be bad sending units?). The two seats have lap and shoulder belts that appear to have come from a later model Chrysler product, but being black in color, blend in well with the vintage interior. This truck runs well, starts easily and only has less than 6,000 miles on a re-manufactured 225 slant six engine that was professionally installed in 1996 (have paperwork from previous owner). The original oil bath air cleaner is still in place. The radiator was re-cored when the new engine was installed. The water pump and thermostat are new, as are the battery cables and battery box. The automatic transmission is solid and shifts smoothly. The rear end is an 8 ¾ open differential with 3:55 gears, according to the tag on the third member. This is a solid running truck. The bad: This truck has some rust issues, as seems common with vehicles of this age. The floor-pan had some rust issues with some holes beginning, however the loose rust was removed with a wire wheel, the rust was treated with extend rust converter, and new sheet metal was hand formed and installed over the original. The floor is totally solid, and had no “give” even before the rust abatement and subsequent repairs were made. There is some minor bubbling of the paint on some of the body seams, and any checking I've done reveals that there is solid steel underneath. Whoever restores this truck will obviously be attending to that. There are also a few spots where rust has bubbled-up beneath the original paint and there is one spot on the driver’s side inner fender / wheel-well that has rusted through (please see photos). The area under the battery box had some significant surface rust, but was not rusted through, it too has been wire-wheeled, and rust converter applied, and the battery box was replaced with a new aftermarket one. I think the front bumper should be replaced, as it isn’t very straight. (although the sheet metal behind it is straight as an arrow). The gaskets around the window glass are dry and shrunken from age, so they should be replaced too. The washer fluid reservoir was badly deteriorated and needs replacement, although the original foot powered pump is still in place. The original seats are in place, but should be re-upholstered sometime. The parking brake is not operational because one of the cable segments was broken. The terms:Overall, this is a really solid and fun truck that gets looks and generates smiles everywhere it goes. However the truck is sold as-is without any kind of warranty whatsoever. As a standard policy I recommend that the vehicle be transported to your initial destination. The winning bidder is solely responsible for all transportation / shipping arrangements. A $500.00 deposit is due via Paypal within 24 hrs of auction close. Pick-up must be within 14 days of auction close. Payment in full is due no later than time of pick-up of truck. Paypal, certified check, or cash accepted. Sorry guys -- this time around, NO overseas bidders. Bidders with feedback ratings lower than 5, please contact me BEFORE bidding. Reserve is moderate to ensure my friend can cover his immediate financial issues. Because this really is the sole reason for this sale, we are not open to any trades, thank you though. Please contact me with ANY questions you may have, I will do my best to answer rapidly, and honestly. Thank you so much for looking. Good luck with your bidding!
