Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this awesome 73 Mach 1 Mustang (CJ)! Marti Report say's "1 of 189"! The car runs great, and was to be one of my easiest restorations yet. Unfortunately I am being forced to sell before I can restore her. My wife say's I have far too many cars and some things MUST GO, or I go! :) The stock paint color is Dark Green Metallic, but it currently sits in Black. This is a prime collectors car, that will sell at an amazing price! I acquired this as a Southern US car - and let me say that in the South, the cars do not rust like they do up here in PA/NJ/NYC! Options: 351C, Center Console, C6 "Cruise-o-Matic" Transmission, 3.25 rear gears, front disk brakes, power steering, rear spoiler. Engine: The motor is a 351 Cleveland and it runs beautifully with it's nearly 100% stock setup! It has not been cleaned, polished or touched since I purchased the car. No taps! No smoke! Starts and purrs with it's stock exhaust which produces a lovely tone. A rather unmolested engine/exhaust system - which is quite rare to see these days. The engine is FULL of torque and I am quite impressed by it. This motor will last a long time to come and a simple clean up/dress up will do! The starter works great, power steering is nice and quiet and the radiator is in excellent condition. Transmission: The Mach 1 has a stock C6 transmission, which works quite well! She shifts into gear smoothly, and is always happy to move for me. The C6 is a massive beast of a transmission, and it appears that this one has never been beaten up. It is matched up to it's stock rear with 3.25 gears. Body: The body is in excellent shape. While I have NOT restored this car, it looks great! The body is very straight, and appears to have never been hit. It has a small ding on the edge of the hood where it meets the windshield, otherwise it is extremely straight. The doors are in great shape too. No rot on them what-so-ever! The drivers side could use a new door pin, but other than that they are all metal and need NO filler. Paint: The paint is a Black Metal Flake with Gold stripes. While it does look nice in the photos, from a collectors point of view it is sub-par. The car is also dirty right now, and needs a serious wash/wax. I barely washed it when taking these photos (just got the dust off of her). I am probably making it sound worse than it is. Really, it doesn't "need" to be repainted but "should" be if you love these cars like I do. There is a few small chips/scratches that are hard to see unless you get really close. All in all it could be considered a "drivers" paint job and could do the job just fine. From 10 feet away it's beautiful. :) The STOCK PAINT as seen on the Marti Report is an awesome color code. I saw a few painted in this color code in person. And it just looks stunning! 1 of 189 ever done in this color/trim package so it's probably worth it to go back to the original color code! Floors/Frame: The floor pans are in near mint condition as well as the rest of the frame. It's an extremely solid car which is aging beautifully! In the photos I show the only rust I could find, which is tiny. In short, this car will need NO floor or frame work what-so-ever. A perfect foundation! I purposely searched for southern cars for this reason. Frame work is VERY time consuming and costly, and this car does not need it! The front frame rails and rear frame rails are in excellent original condition and need absolutely NO work at all. If anything, some new undercoating will do the job to provide a fresh protective barrier. Interior: The interior is 100% original and needs some love! :) I would say that a full interior kit is in order to bring her back to her original beauty. It does a have a center console and the carpet is nice. But plan on having some fun with the interior. This is literally the worst part of this car ATM. But (for me) also the funnest part to repair! I did NOT clean it, but should have! The back seat is in great condition despite it's caked on dust! It will need: Headliner, door panels, dashboard, gauge lens...etc Tires/Wheels: The Mach 1 currently has a set of retro (original) craigers probably from 30 years ago. They do not belong on the car, but are restoreable and popular (if you like buffing rims)! The tires are old and I wouldn't trust them. Replacements are in order, as no matter how they appear, they are old. The car does stand on them nicely, and they can be driven on for short trips. Brakes: Power Disk in the front, drum in the rear. All of the brakes are in working order and will stop the car nicely. But she has sat in my garage for a solid year now, so scuffing the rotors would be in order. Still though, the car stopped on a dime for me when I backed her out! Glass: All of the glass is original stock Ford glass. There is no chips or cracks! Trim: The trim is in great shape, but there is one small ding in the upper windshield trim. Easily repairable as it is just pushed in a little too much. Trunk/Gas Tank: The trunk and gas tank is in great shape, and needs no work. The gas gauge even works! Marti Report: This car comes with a Deluxe Marti Report. It includes a new door sticker for the car, and gives you a factually documented (from Ford) history on the cars build. Thus verifying the car's authenticity. A very cool document to have, in which most collectors over look. Final Notes: This car is a superb restoration piece! The Marti Report says it all. This car must have been glorious from the factory, and any wise collector would snatch this up and match the Marti Report verbatim. Thus making a very rare numbers matching find. At current state, the only non-numbers matching part of the car is the paint! She's dressed in black now and should be Dark Green Metallic! Otherwise, consider her numbers matching. In her current state, she DOES run and drive! But I would not exactly be willing to go on any long distance road trips with her. As she needs a little TLC!!! However, she is happy to start up and take you for a cruise! Shipping: Shipping is the sole responsibility of the purchaser. However, I will do my best to help you. I do own a truck and tow dolly, but can not promise anything. I will help you load it on your truck/tow dolly and might be able to move it a few miles from my location. IF the car is purchased for full price I will contribute $100 towards shipping. If you do your best to communicate with me, I will do my absolute best to help you! Payment: Winning bidder must make a deposit of $200 due within 24 hours of auction end. Remainder due within 7 days via Cash, Certified Bank Check, Cashiers Check, Certified Funds or Paypal (but not preferred). Please Note: THIS CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY! You are welcome to come see it at any time! I reserve the right to end this auction if it sells locally. Please feel free to call me at: 570.972.9218 (from 10AM to 10PM) or contact me through e-bay to arrange a visit! If you have questions please do not hesitate to ask. In fact, I will be insulted if you do not ask questions!!! I can provide more photos if you ask nicely (please let me know what you would like to see). If enough time goes by, I might even clean it! Good luck to all & happy bidding!
