Vehicle Detail

This MG TD was stored away in 1986 with an MGB until the barn that it was kept in was being torn down I bought both cars in 2007. The speedometer only shows 15909 and I was told that the engine was rebuilt in the 80s shortly before it was stored away, which I beleive because the exhaust still looks brand new. After bringing the car home I sandblasted the wheels and put on new tires. Replaced the points, plugs, plugwires and battery. I rebuilt the original fuel pump but after having continual problems with it I replaced it with a new SU fuel pump of the original style. I have also replaced the coolant hoses, clamps and where necessary the coolant pipes. The car now runs, drives, and stops great. The clutch is a little jerky from a stop which takes a couple minutes of driving to get used to, might be fixed by lowering the engine idle speed. When I found the car the fenders had been removed and stored on the floor of the barn, concequently they have some surface rust where they were touching the ground and I never got around to connecting up the wires for the lights as I drive it only during the day. The rear lights and brake lights are hooked up and working. The generator is not working and therefor neither is the tach but with a fully charged battery I have driven it 60 miles and back for british car shows. The car comes with the soft top and side curtains as well as a new Robbins top that I got with the car. Also included is a box of trim and parts that have been replaced or removed from the car including the trim strips for the running boards. The interior is in great shape with a small hole in the passenger side. The tonneau cover is also in good shape but a little stiff with age. THE BAD: The car runs and drive well enough for a test drive or loading onto a trailer but the plate that covers the rear of the head is leaking water from one of the bolt holes and needs a new gasket. There is also a small crack in the windsheild on the drivers side. The crack is out of the way and I have included a picture.
